The Pharaohs of WNC always host some cool shows, so we like to make as many as we can. This one was a special one though. It was hosted with the express purpose of raising money and supplies to help the victims of the hurricane Helene floods that devastated much of the WNC area. Entire zip codes were washed away. It is worse than the media was showing and though it was a couple months ago the suffering of those hit hard by it are far from being back on their feet again. The Pharaohs picked November 9th as their show date as it was the only day available at the fairgrounds. Well, they picked a good one, clear blue skies and warmer than usual weather. Nice. They had shirts for sale and were packing goods in the U-Haul. We met up with a dozen other hot rodders and caravanned over the mountain from Murphy, NC to Franklin, NC to do our part. What a nice ride. The show was great too, 150 cars or so. When it was all said and done they club raised over $10,000 and a half a box truck full of supplies to help out. They were working with a couple churches and volunteers to get the supplies and money to the small towns that were off the radar to most.
