Tonight's passage deals with historical things that happened with and to Jeremiah and King Zedekiah.
The Babylonian army is outside the city walls. Jeremiah give's a word from God to King Zedekiah to surrender and make way for the people to live, but he did not heed God's instruction. It resulted in the King's sons being killed in front of him and then his eyes being put out before he was taken captive to Babylon.
Jeremiah was perceived as a traitor or a negative influence on the Israeli army and was put into the dungeon. God saw that he was spared.
Our takeaway from today's passage is that we should always heed God's instruction, even when we don't understand.
