"ONE YEAR SINCE THE RAID ON AL-SHIFA. A VIGIL TO HONOR GAZA" in Grand Army Plaza. Brooklyn, Lenapehoking (New York City), was organized by Healthcare Workers for Palestine • NYC (hcw4pnyc on Instagram), on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

One year since zionist, apartheid israel raided Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, Palestine, New Yorkers against the Gaza HOLOCAUST gathered in Grand Army Plaza to honor Gaza.

The vigil was near the house of zionist senator Chuck Schumer (a member of the Democratic Party). The New York City Police Department (NYPD) closed the street in front of the house of Chuck Schumer. Democrat politicians are afraid of PEACEFUL New Yorkers. Kamala Harris lost, the Democratic Party lost on November 5, 2024.

After the vigil, people marched to the New York Presbyterian hospital in Park Slope. After a short protest in front of the hospital, pro-Palestine New Yorkers marched to Prospect Park, where they ended the demonstration.

There was a NYPD helicopter flying deliberately low and making so much noise during the PEACEFUL vigil. There were many New York City Police Department (NYPD) police officers during the vigil and march. How much taxpayers paid to all the NYPD officers? Zionist New York City mayor Eric Adams (a member of the Democratic Party) is wasting our tax money.

"Israel has attacked healthcare workers, patients, hospitals, healthcare centers, ambulances, and field hospitals more than 1,000 times in the last year (October 7, 2023 - November 13, 2024)," said Healthcare Workers for Palestine • NYC before the event.

"Grand Army Plaza, Al-Shifa Vigil, 11-16-24.

Tonight, Healthcare Workers for Palestine • NYC and others gathered at Grand Army Plaza for a vigil in remembrance of the raid on Al-Shifa hospital on its one year anniversary.

We all remember the lies from Israel, about the hospital being a resistance command center. Back then, the world was under the illusion that Israel would never bomb a hospital. It has since gone on to destroy every hospital in Gaza and has now begun launching attacks on hospitals in Lebanon as well.

Sometimes I wonder if people find what’s happening in Gaza to be abstract. It’s not happening “here,” it’s happening “there,” in some place most of us have never been to. Gazan doctors were supposed to join us on the phone, but they got held up in surgery, something not worth rushing, so the organizers made a video to send them instead. I hope it gives them strength and resilience. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of an ongoing genocide, healthcare workers of all kinds are sacrificing everything to save lives. To do no harm, even in the face of despicable harm inflicted on them.

And then I think about healthcare workers here in 2020, during a pandemic that, at the time, was completely unpredictable. We couldn’t possibly foresee the amount of death, sickness, and disability it would leave in its wake. Healthcare workers had to fight tooth and nail just to get proper protective equipment to go into rooms where the air was deadly. They did it all to take care of their patients. To flatten the curve. To do no harm, even as corporate greed and hospital CEOs conspired to inflict despicable harm on them by denying them basic supplies.

What’s happening in Gaza is not abstract. Everything that’s happening there has either already happened here or will in due time. That’s why solidarity is our greatest weapon. It’s greater than any rocket, any bomb, any artillery. Together, we are strong. Free Palestine.

Good thing the cops sent the low-flying chopper, huh?," said Lantz Arroyo on Instagram (photos: instagram.com/lantzarroyo/p/DCdRL2-Ncfc/).

"Tonight at Grand Army Plaza, Healthcare Workers for Palestine • NYC held a vigil for the over 210,000+ martyrs of this genocide, committed by US and “Israel” and the horrible one year marker of the raid on Al-Shifa hospital.

As the NYPD helicopter hovered over, disrupting all of Grand Army Plaza and Brooklyn loudly surveilling a vigil… it’s become even more obvious how important numbers are and will continue to be going forward. Reminded tonight about how showing up is the bare minimum, how mainstream media will continue to do empires work, and how the police state will continue to use every tool available to suppress and silence pro-Palestinian voices.

None of this is new information. It’s day 407. Day in and day out we see multiple reports and videos coming out of Gaza and Lebanon with bombing after bombing…massacre after massacre. We have to keep showing up. We have to keep showing Gaza we still stand with them.

The coming weeks and months will be important, where will you say you were?," said photojournalist Alexa Blair Wilkinson on Instagram (photos: instagram.com/alexabwilkinson/p/DCd61K3RuGz/).

"One year since the raid on Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, New Yorkers gather at the Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn to honour martyrs in a candle lit vigil.

The NYPD put up a helicopter which was flown deliberately low above the 100 or so peaceful gathering in an effort to disrupt speakers," said photographer Ian Bartlett on Instagram (photos: instagram.com/thebartlett/p/DCdO5XYt3c1/).
