Doug Talks About: Skin disease misdiagnoses are common

The skin is the largest organ in the body, and given its vulnerability to fungal infestation, it deserves our study. There are currently over 3,000 recognized skin diseases. How could any doctor accurately diagnose all of them? Simply put, they cannot. Are our skin diseases, including skin cancers commonly being misdiagnosed? Apparently, this is the case. Says one medical website (Medscape), “Among individuals diagnosed with melanoma in situ, 89.4% of White men and 85.4% of White women were likely over diagnosed in 2018.” Melanoma in situ is considered a non-invasive type of cancer, Stage 0. because the abnormal cells, called melanocytes are only found in the top layer of the skin. On Monday, in addition to melanoma, let’s talk about childhood skin disorders and how often (and why) they are misdiagnosed. In addition, let’s addressing eczema, hives, acne and psoriasis, all within the context of possibly having a fungal cause. Please invite a friend to join us from 3-4PM Central Time - Doug
