While traveling around Japan, we took a day trip to Kyoto to hike Fushimi Inari Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Inari. Foxes are considered to be the messengers of Inari, which is why there are so many fox statues here (which I loved). Fushimi Inari is most well known for it's thousands of vermillion torii gates, however I was also super excited to see the bamboo forest. Ascending the trail through the thousands (it's actually estimated there's over 10,000 torii gates here), you are actually climbing Mount Inari, which sits at 233 meters, or 764 feet.
