Marco Navarro-Génie is a prominent figure in Canadian public policy and academia. He is the founding president of the Haultain Research Institute, a think tank focused on addressing structural inequities in landlocked Canadian provinces. Born in Nicaragua, Navarro-Génie fled to Montreal as an adolescent to escape the communist regime in his home country.

He holds a BA from Concordia University, an MA, and a PhD from the University of Calgary. His academic career includes teaching positions at Mount Royal University, St. Mary’s College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), the University of Calgary, and Concordia University. His research interests span radical revolutionary movements, cultural and political identity in Latin America, and Canadian politics.
Navarro-Génie is also known for his media presence, regularly commenting on Canadian institutions, policy, and politics. He has authored numerous articles, policy reports, and books, including "Canada’s COVID: The Story of a Pandemic Moral Panic
