Shocking moment Georgian politician throws paint over election chief
An opposition politician has thrown paint at the head of Georgia’s electoral commission, accusing him of being a “black spot” on the country’s democratic system.
Davit Kirtadze, of the Unity National Movement (UNM) opposition coalition, splashed black paint over Giorgi Kalandarishvili and accused him of “moving the country towards Russia instead of toward Europe”.
The attack, after rising tension between the pro-Russia ruling party and its pro-EU rivals, happened during a parliamentary session to confirm a controversial election result.
