Remembering the Vajont Dam Disaster US Army

When an Italian village was threatened following a tsunami 60 years ago, the U.S. Army dispatched helicopters to aid the tiny village. They succeeded in evacuating all 486 people there.

Now, the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force - Africa pays tribute to the bond with the community affected in that disaster.

About the U.S. Army:
The Army Mission – our purpose – remains constant: To deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt & sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force.
