In Lacey, Washington, a disturbing case unfolded involving the parents of a 17-year-old girl accused of attempting an "honor killing" after she resisted an arranged marriage overseas. Ihsan Ali and Zahraa Subhi Mohsin Ali were charged with attempted murder and other crimes after allegedly attacking their daughter outside Timberline High School on October 18, 2024. Witnesses intervened as the father reportedly choked her unconscious, and the mother allegedly continued the assault.

Authorities revealed a history of domestic conflicts, including prior police involvement and a protective order violation. The girl’s struggles at home began surfacing publicly after her relationship with her boyfriend in early 2024. By summer, concerns arose about her safety and wellbeing.

In September, her mother, Zahraa, allegedly confronted her boyfriend at their school, shouting and grabbing him, which led to her removal from campus. Child Protective Services (CPS) had previously been involved in the family’s situation but reportedly stopped their engagement before the issues escalated. Additionally, police were called when the girl ran away shortly before the attack at the bus stop.
