Lee Strobel claims to have been an atheist when he engaged in his interviews over four decades ago which produced his book, THE CASE FOR CHRIST. He states the evidence shown for the resurrection of Jesus was so compelling that he renounced his atheist stance. I don't believe Strobel was an atheist when he engaged in this "research" and here is my compelling argument why.
