ISRAEL'S Shocking Soldier Shortage Could Oust Netanyahu!

Right, so the problems for Benjamin Netanyahu continue to pile up this week, it’s been a lovely week to see him with more and more piling up on his plate, with my video coverage yesterday including a story where he’s now due in court at the beginning of December for those corruption charges he’s been evading for the last four years now, he’s run out of road to avoid them any longer says the judge, but where that road may topple him, may see him finally fall from grace, fall out of power, it might take a while to do. No, a quicker way of seeing him fall may in fact be just around the corner and again it comes back to the soldier shortage I spoke about in another video this week that Israel has, thousands of vacancies needing to be filled, but no way necessarily of filling them without taking some pretty extreme and pretty desperate measures. Well it seems those stories of Netanyahu’s desperation have been well founded, because the solution they’ve hit upon might well destroy his government and bring him down with it.
Right, so Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s recruitment problems. I spoke the other day about this and the fact Israel are currently recruiting mercenaries to try and fill an immediate shortfall in the IDF ranks of around 7,000 places, paying some more than double what the average IDF soldier gets paid. This shortfall is coming around not necessarily in light of the losses Israel is experiencing, though these have been heavy, but also as a result of a great many IDF soldiers refusing to return to their posts after periods of leave, despondent, and disillusioned that matters are still dragging on, that there is no end in sight, that they are just going over all the same ground over and over and in no small part is that due to both their failure to actually eliminate the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah, but also the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu, in order to keep himself in power, cannot afford to let this war end. Running out of enough soldiers, enough lives to put in front of him, to shield him from losing his job, is taking that out of his hands though. If numbers continue to dwindle, it doesn’t matter how much military aid the pro Zionist world gives him, and it looks like Donald Trump isn’t going to hesitate to keep the weapons flow going, may even expedite even further to get even more in, if there is nobody there to use it, what good is it?
So what is Netanyahu going to do? What is his solution, because he thinks he’s found it and actually this was something put n the table by his now former defence minister Yoav Gallant, but which Gallant’s even more vicious successor, Israel Katz is signing off on and therefore Netanyahu must be backing too, but this is so high risk, it may backfire badly.
The 7,000 empty spaces in the military ranks that need to be filled are being filled apparently, by drafting Haredi Jews into the IDF, Orthodox Jews, who have always been exempted from military service. Around the world, these are the ones protesting against Israel, against Netanyahu, Israel’s very existence is anathema to them and the teachings of the Torah.
In Israel however, the Haredi have historically been exempted from the national draft that affects everyone else in Israel, the national service they have to complete, because as a community within Judaism themselves, they study the Torah at religious schools known as Yeshivas and in so doing, they are defending Israel and it’s self proclaimed Jewish state status. In their view they are defending Israel in their own way and on their own terms. That has been valid since the inception of the state of Israel itself, called the torato umunato, meaning ‘Torah study is his job.’ It’s a founding principle, though if you’ve seen the numerous examples of orthodox Jewry being beaten by the likes of the IDF or Israeli police online, you’ll know it’s not a view shared by all.
Well Netanyahu’s desperation and this order now coming from the new Defence Minister Israel Katz is essentially tearing that up completely as coming this Sunday, the first 1000 haredi Jews are due to be conscripted into the IDF, due to get their draft papers.
This follows months of attempted rule changes and legal challenges in Israeli courts to overturn the Haredi Exemption as more and more people get more and more upset over it, the Haredim as they are collectively called, because the Haredim population in Israel has grown rapidly, meaning more people who refuse conscription becoming a bigger part of the population. My personal feeling on this is that If Israel weren’t such an aggressive, dissident element within the Middle East they wouldn’t need such a conscription service, require a national service and if they weren’t so hell bent on perpetuating their genocide even in areas they’ve already been through, just to keep things going, they wouldn’t have currently serving members of the IDF now refusing to serve.
On one hand, this is likely doomed to failure. The Haredi don’t accept this and It’s been tried already, some 3,000 Haredi’s have already been attempted to be drafted and only around 10% showed up. Israel can therefore attempt to draft as many Haredim as they like, it would appear they’ll fail to conscript 90% of those who get their papers, this is a typical annual response, last year 66,000 Haredim refused the call up.
But this really sums up the genocidal state’s desperation more than anything else though, in that they’re going to push ahead with a plan that an expected 90% or thereabouts of the Haredim won’t respond to. What then? What will you do to them then? What do they do to those that refuse the draft now? Beat them up?
Well no, but they have attempted to legislate the exception out of existence by freezing the funding received by the Yeshiva’s which enable Haredim students to serve their national service if you like, through Torah study. No money to study, you can’t afford to study.
But this isn’t even the half of it.
You see the Haredi Jewish Community in Israel is well represented in the Knesset too, with some 18 seats split between the Conservative United Tory Judaism Party and the arguably more Religious Conservative Shas Party, Shas actually being the third largest party in the Knesset behind Netanyahu’s Likud Party and the main opposition party Yesh Atid.
It is United Torah Judaism, or the UTJ, that are in the most difficult position here though, because they, unlike Shas, are part of Netanyahu’s coalition government and if they just stand still whilst Netanyahu attempts to impose a draft on the section of Israelis their party purport to represent, well that won’t go down well.
You would imagine there was fall out over the removal of Yeshiva funding, which happened actually way back before the events of October 7th did, this happened the previous April, indeed this did cause problems, because Netanyahu saw the likes of UTJ as potentially leaving and that would collapse his government, however whilst the UTJ have threatened this on numerous occasions, nothing has ever come of it, but now matters have moved on from court cases and arbitration and legislation over the matter of the Haredi Exemption, to actual draft papers being sent out as of tomorrow, Netanyahu is risking the UTJ leaving, but before they take the nuclear option, the UTJ appear to be trying something else first, by trying to pass legislation to exempt yeshiva students from military service.
Now this I don’t think is going to work. It was only back in June that Israel’s Supreme Court ruled against the Exemption on the grounds that it violated the principle of equality, that the Haredim enjoyed a privilege other Israeli citizens did not, plus the fact that so many in the Knesset are so hard right, and so set against this, that it is unlikely to pass either. Netanyahu is quite possibly damned therefore. By needing Haredi conscripts and by actually now drafting them, he risks the UTJ walking away from the coalition. If they do that, taking their 7 Knesset members with them, Netanyahu’s coalition government would collapse. What Netanyahu may be betting on here, hoping to God with here, is that the UTJ do what they’ve always seemed to do previously and talk a lot of talk about leaving, but never actually doing it.
That’s a lot of Haredi voters though, who will likely never vote for the UTJ again in which case. That’s their risk. If they do nothing now to help their communities, who are religiously opposed to this, then they could lose those voters to Shas. They have another option. This by rights should be a no brainer situation, how can a Haredi party remain in a coalition that is going to send their people to fight when their beliefs oppose that?
Netanyahu can’t afford for the UTJ to leave, the UTJ, really oughtn’t have a choice but to leave if they stand for anything, so one way or another somebody is screwed here. Most of all however, this plan will simply not work because Netanyahu can draft the Haredim as much as he likes, the vast majority will simply not turn up. So how much more can Israel under his administration clamp down on a section of his own society, that make up more than 13% of the population of Israel? You simply cannot force people to fight and he has not time to argue about it either as more and more IDF soldiers refuse to return to the front as well.
Is Netanyahu damned here or is he not? Do share your thoughts with me on this in the comments.
Meanwhile where the Haredim have already been dragged through the courts, Netanyahu is getting the same treatment in a couple weeks’ time on those corruption charges. Check out the details of that story in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch, how can you not be cheered by the thought of Bibi potentially getting stripped of his position if found guilty? And I’ll hopefully catch you on the next vid. Cheers folks.
