“Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” [Hebrews 12:16-17]
Abraham, through faith, had received Covenant promises of blessing from God (Genesis 28:4); chiefly that from his loins would come the Promised Seed of Genesis 3:15, through Whose future great victory over the usurping serpent of the Garden, Abraham and his seed would gain a great and eternal inheritance in His victorious Kingdom. Isaac, the like faith-filled son of Abraham, had received the right of the first-born and the blessing of Abraham, his father, with its earthly and the greater spiritual heavenly overtones, and it was given unto him also the power to bestow it (unto his son).
Esau (meaning ‘hairy,’ ‘red’ or ‘well done’ like a little man, in that he appeared a lot older coming from the womb) had the first right of the first-born blessing, having been born first; Jacob, the younger twin son, means ‘to follow’ or ‘to grasp the heel’ and he was smooth and soft). The great significance of the birthright blessing that Esau was entitled to as the firstborn, was that it would be the great privilege and honor that through him would come the ‘Promised Seed’/the Christ; the Anointed Savior of God, and thereby Esau would become one of the forefathers of the faith… and God would have been known as ‘the God of Abraham, Isaac and Esau.’
Esau, now being a full grown man, continued in Worldly-mindedness despite being most certainly aware of Abraham’s and Isaac’s supernatural history with Yahweh founded upon their Calling and selfless faithfulness, and His promises of their being the seedline through which the Promised Seed would come.
The profaning of Esau was his continuing disdain/contempt/indifference of the sacred spiritual promises of God that he had heard all his life.
The birthright blessing rested upon paternal favor which he knew he possessed. Bartering, with calloused conscience, the spiritual promises away, being nearly worthless in his eyes, he blatantly swore with an oath to God, and as it is Written, he then being refreshed after eating calmly, “rose up, and went his way.” Here then, was the culmination of a life lustfully lived contrary to his Calling. For the here-and-now earthly things, he cut himself off from the far greater blessings of the hereafter.
Jacob attained, by deceit, the blessing of the first-born, that which had become his by right of Esau’s sworn bartering rejection.
Hebrews 12:17… For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he (Esau) found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” The ancient scene here depicts the certain similar Esau-minded New Testament redeemed experience of remorse at the Judgement Seat of Christ. (Romans 14:10, 2nd Corinthians 5:10) Repentance too late. His first-born birth-right (Hebrews 12:23a) irrevocably given up. (Matthew 25:11-12, Luke 16:25)
Although Esau sought earnestly, crying with bitter tears, Isaac declared there was no way of repentance. The inspired first-born blessing had been forever conferred.
The Epistle ‘Hebrews’ was not written to the lost or religious hypocrites, but to fellow Abrahamic Covenant redeemed Jews who had come to have faith in Jesus as the Christ of God; the Promised Seed spoken of in the Book of Genesis. Anti-typically, they are here being portrayed as standing in the place of choosing to be Esau, or choosing to be Jacob, both being circumcised sons of God, of the same Father, redeemed brethren who had now received Jesus as the Messiah and the heavenly Kingdom promises (Hebrews 3:1) with the birthright blessing of inheritance at stake. And they were in danger of casting off their confidence in Jesus in the face of being ostracized from their religious community for not holding beliefs common to theirs, a promised birthright which has great recompense of reward in the hereafter blessing. The Holy Spirit warns throughout the Epistle of Hebrews 5 times of the great loss of drawing back and not overcoming unto the salvation of the soul. (Hebrews 10:38-39) Not the loss of the gift of eternal life… which can be seen in the minor blessing of Esau (Genesis 27:38)… but the loss of eternal glory as the chosen Bride of Christ. (Colossians 1:27, Revelation 19:7-8; 20:4-6 with 21:7)
This is the foundational lesson set before us New Testament redeemed; that of the great blessing of the chosen first-born sons, for which all redeemed should tirelessly and wholeheartedly hold onto… for theirs is the heavenly firstborn birthright of being reborn into Jesus’ Body. Whereas the firstborn ‘birthright’ comes at re-birth from Heaven on all those redeemed and water baptized… but the promised conferred ‘blessing’ follows later after faithful service (the manifestation of the firstborn blessing being contingent on one’s way of life)… when there is no possibility for the loss of its promises as determined by the Lord. With Jacob, the blessing was given at Jabok. With all those ‘faith’ hall of famers of the Book of Hebrews Chapter 11 being there validated as overcomers in the faith, probably somewhere along the way of their race. As in the case of Paul, shortly before he was martyred, he was told he had attained. (2nd Timothy 4:6-8)
Foundational understanding…..WHERE THERE IS NO LIVING FAITH, THERE IS NO GRACE (power of the Holy Spirit… to overcome)
Think of this… Esau was a son of Isaac and had heard often the ‘Gospel’ of God’s marvelous ‘Grace.’ But Esau, at the time of the test and trial in living life with God’s purpose came, he was living in the World’s thoughts and circumstances designed by satan to steal the faith of God from hearts. Esau had grown calloused and lukewarm about the promises of God in that he let living in this World get in the way of faith, and his faith was overcome and grace was lost. The spiritual battle for his faith was won by satan without him even recognizing there was a war going on. Esau was walking outside of that spiritual state of believing (having faith) in the Abrahamic Covenant where he should have been. His life was orchestrated by what his carnal soul’s mind reasoned, imagined, and what his sensual body saw in the World, heard in the World, felt in the World, smelled, and tasted in the World… all the deceiving things of the World designed to bring forth lust and capture the soul, in order to counter faith in the words of God. His person and identity were formed by his thinking being directed away and outside of the Covenant Words of God. And when orchestrated circumstances presented themselves in such a way that it appeared he might die, he valued his life above all other things (Job 2:4 “And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.”). Esau’s thoughts were not filled with Covenant thinking, he had spent no time in the ‘tent or the field’ meditating upon the promises of God and who he was in Him. If he had, he would have understood that he couldn’t yet die, since he was the promised son of the promised son. And until he had his promised son, he would have to live. He would have thought ‘it would be impossible for me to die… as I have no son, and I am the line through which the Promised Seed should come.’
His thoughts were all about his symptoms… ‘What good is my birth-right? I’m about to die.’ He leaned upon his own World-schooled thoughts of, ‘In this World, it is all about survival, the strong over the weak.’ Esau had no faith thoughts of Covenant, no faith thoughts of who they, as a family, were in the supernatural promises of God Almighty, and was only guided by unbelief. He sold that which had both present and priceless eternal aspects, his birth-right, for nothing. God foreknew that Esau would be profane and that he’d choose to allow the things of the World to interfere with the Calling on his life, and override the grace that was ever ready to empower him in the Calling. Had Esau been walking in the Covenant of his father and grand-father, he would have thought to himself when he was so near death… like his grandfather thought at Isaac’s binding… ‘God’s promises are sure… God is able to raise my promised son up even from the dead if necessary, to ensure His promises are fulfilled.’ And in the knowledge and faith of Yahweh’s Word of Covenant, in the knowing of who he was in Him, his faith-filled proclamation would have been, ‘I will live and not die, and receive the blessing of my father and be fruitful and be the line from which the Promised Seed will come… thank you Yahweh for Your Covenant Word that cannot be broken.’
Jacob looked to the World to be a plain man (even by his own dad who let his mind and identity stray from the Word, and because of his love for Esau, he was set up for sorrowful disappointment). “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” [Matthew 10:37]
Jacob didn’t have the ‘look,’ the ‘charisma,’ the ‘panache,’ or the personality admired by the World. But Jacob had developed his identity in things outside of the World. He had heard the Word of God through his mother (no doubt Rebecca would have told him that the Lord said to her that “the elder shall serve the younger” - Genesis 25:23) and he would have heard the living witnesses of God’s wonder (Isaac’s living ancestors) and believed. And in his communion of his heart with Yahweh, he highly valued the great promises of God to his father and grandfather… and yearned to make them his own. Jacob had no animosity in his heart against his brother… but he did recognize his brother’s lack of esteem for the things of Yahweh, that were secured by the faith of his grandfather and his father Isaac, but were lost on his brother of the same father.
Jacob pursued in the way he was shown by his mother… he was wholehearted and God looked at him as he could/would be, not as he was (as He sees us for what we can be according to the desires of our hearts). God’s calling on him would take him through suffering selflessness to higher ground. Which Jacob was found willing to do.
Satan is arrogant… he believes what he said to God about Job… that men are self-centered and that they only ‘need’ God, they don’t really love him. Satan immediately comes at every redeemed soul who Christ is sowing His Word into, to get them early in the fight for the faith (Did you ever notice conviction with determination is quickly followed by test and trial?). The longer the fight and the deeper the conviction comes grows in the redeemed hearers of the Word, the more Christ-likeness can be worked out in the ‘believer.’ (God was not then, nor is He today, in this dispensation of a mind to stop the enemy from attacking a Believer. His goal for us in Christlikeness, it’s not about our provision, comfort, or blessings. On the contrary, He is about seeing the redeemed ‘believe’ Jesus’ Words… and fight the good fight of faith, confront the lies, resist the enemy, and further capacitate/develop into the image of Christ as witnesses on the Earth through experiences often accompanied by various sufferings and temptations (albeit limited to the believer’s current abilities - 1st Corinthians 10:13). That’s the risk of satan… on the one hand, he “ariseth for the Word’s sake” (read Mark 4:13-25 and Luke 8:10-18) to destroy the ‘faith’ of the believer, knowing how susceptible they are to doubt and unbelief according to what they see and hear. And he has much success in stopping and deterring the redeemed in living an overcoming life by the power of suggestion… “Hath God really said?”… in appeals to the redeemed old man’s self-centeredness and by circumstances. But on the other hand, there’s the ‘believer’ who continues to stand on the Truth found in the Word and patiently endures…. or the believer who keeps getting back up after being knocked down and gets back in the race… then satan runs the risk of seeing that believer of Truth growing in Christ-likeness instead of withering in self-centered Worldliness through his designed sufferings. Rather than wilting and their lights going out… they stand in faith in Christ’s Words with the right motive of heart/good soil/bringing forth the image of Christ, and are then His witnesses in this World. Increasingly empowered unto greater fruitfulness, their light now intensifying and shining in satan’s kingdom where now the Kingdom of Christ will absolutely manifest in the Earth “…some 30-fold, some 60-fold, some 100-fold.” Those are numbers hard for satan to deal with. (Philippians 1:27-29… “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake…” Just as all the apostles did, true believers in the Words of Jesus count it a privilege and honor to suffer self-denial of all self-centered flesh; persecution, beatings, imprisonment, and even death for His namesake.)
Faith/believing cometh by hearing. “Be careful what you hear” was Jesus’ warning to His disciples after the parable of the Sower sows the Word, because we can believe a lie presented as Truth and it will corrupt our soil and we will bring forth thorns, briars, and religious tares. A condemning religious lie on how God views morality void of the Truth, which believed, brings presumption in one religious camp and in another camp, Guilt and discouragement… (either extreme of presumption or despair will disqualify us) and either lie is the enemy’s fruit-killing herbicide.
He knows that if you are in the camp of Believing that you are hopelessly unworthy… that will cause you to sell your first-born birth-right for a bowl of porridge… or if on the other hand, satan can get you to believe in the Kingdom inheritance blessing of cheap grace without personal righteousness, the effect is the same; the loss of the birthright. In both instances, the Christians are in spiritual darkness, without heavenly wisdom and spiritual understanding of the Scriptures, losing their birthright and blessing. Not clearly seeing the Father’s purpose for the great price Jesus paid for the Father’s Holy propitiation. That being not for just your redemption… that is, being translated out of satan’s kingdom on this Earth, for which you are now and will be forever grateful… even while today you are in a satan- induced ‘faith/believing’ robbing remorse, which keeps you ‘self’-centered and unattached from the Atonement purpose for Jesus-centeredness. The means/way by which you might rightly see yourself in Scriptural Truth understanding is seen in Philippians 2:15-16a … “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without (God’s) rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life…” This should be the state of the selfless redeemed person alive on this Earth, with spiritual wisdom and understanding in living a life of faith in Jesus-centeredness. They are not, spiritually speaking ‘of this World,’ so as believers in Christ’s Atonement, then they are not under any earthly law (Adamic, Noadic, or Mosaic), and thereby spiritually speaking, able to boldly/confidently access the heavenly provisions of Jesus’ Atonement at the Throne of grace and mercy, which allow the redeemed, who are renewed in mind, by identifying with Jesus through His Words, to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit into the image of Jesus. Their bodies are living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2), reckoning themselves dead unto sin, in living life then in a contrite meek manner, in newness of life, in resurrection power, living unto God (in Holy Spirit-revealed wisdom and understanding of Romans 6). “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (Christians are ignorant particularly concerning satan’s lie that says that we got it all in the first part of the Atonement, believing that the reward of eternal glory is part of the free gift of eternal life. It is the “hope of glory,” not a guarantee. You don’t hope for something you already have.)
Being then “kept by the power of God” in unbroken fellowship, we continue to keep Christ’s image and our birthright in view, by not critically appraising and depreciating God’s Son’s Atonement, remaining then (by not straying far or for long)… “under the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.” And thereby, attaining ‘mercy’ (the kind of mercy that justly triumphs over judgement that would ordinarily demand retribution for every sin) and ‘grace’ the Holy Spirit’s ‘empowerment’ for the believer’s ongoing unimpeded development in Christlikeness. And that in the very face of the enemy’s ‘true’ accusations.
True accusations by the devil, but intentionally misleading to the unaware redeemed who are without Truth’s revelation, confused and stumbling around blindly in religious darkness. In that, the one group of ‘believers’ have foolishly ‘believed’ that they will or already have received the firstborn blessing of “the prize of the high calling” by imputation without ever having run the race and they brush off conviction as condemnation. They are sorrowfully disqualified by ‘believing’ a religious presumptuous lie. Or on the other hand, the other group of ‘believers’ have ‘believed’ that the redeemed who sin are in need of confession and ‘repentance’ which they perceive as ‘I am sorry’ and yet remain unchanged… and cycle around and around and just settle into a confused, religious, numbed state of playing Church. They know well the ‘true accusations’ of the enemy, and having no wisdom or understanding of the Atonement, as it relates to their standing under the “law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus” or of the prize for overcoming, they remain self-centered/self-conscious instead of growing in Jesus-consciousness, identifying with Him, reckoning themselves dead to sin, in understanding how that works spiritually and scripturally out of focus “double minded,” and ‘believing’ they are failures, and resign themselves to seeing themselves as just forgiven sinners… ’believing’ a lie that stops the flow of grace unto Christlikeness. Thinking… ‘Surely God must extend mercy, otherwise none of us Christians will be ‘saved’…' Not having understood the difference between God’s gift versus God’s prize in Scripture… and thus they give up hope and faith of ever overcoming the flesh, world, and devil, and sell their positional birthright (not for eternal life, but for the first-born blessing) for a bowl of porridge, not rightly dividing the Word and identifying with Jesus and His loving Atonement provisions having to do with the ‘heavenly Kingdom inheritance,’ which is the only means by which they will ever inherit the heavenly birthright of Blessing. “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection, in such the second death (of fiery tormenting retribution) hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”
The enemy is intensely aware of your potential for Christlikeness and its impact in the World. The forces of satan are acutely focused on stopping you… not stopping you from attending Church and Bible studies, attending Christian seminars or learning more about the Word, (the enemy has set up hundreds of thousands of ‘Bible’ studies, and seminars and plenty of Bible colleges). Nor stopping you from praying self-centered prayers that keep you focused on yourself, nor helping the poor, widows and orphans, tithing, visiting the sick, etc… but vastly more importantly, he wants to stop your being formed into Christ’s image on the Earth and your light from shining, and that through all kinds of adversities. The goal being to stop the redeemed from knowing/having confidence in who they are, which is: beloved in Jesus and exercising the power of His might in grace through faith in developing the image of Jesus in them so as to manifest Him while alive here on the Earth in satan’s kingdom. Which is to say, the Word becoming manifest in the ‘flesh’ through your unmovable and unconquering selfless loving faith. Making selfless Christlike proclamations of Scriptural faith and bringing mercy and grace upon the scene. The… “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”… in this World.
This fight is what is in view in the “wrestling,” and the real standing against the wiles of the devil of Ephesians 6. It’s not about a follower of Christ Jesus in a war with spirits. It is not between a so-called ‘intercessor’ who often is without Scriptural spiritual understanding and wisdom, living religiously unsanctified out outside the “law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.” Nor engaging with the devils, binding them, casting them down, casting them out… and that presumed by quoting Scripture in ineffective un-Scriptural prayers that sound spiritual to the unspiritual, where nothing happens, having not discerned what a follower of Christ Jesus looks like Scripturally, or what “strong in the Lord, and the power of His might” looks like in a selfless Christ-centered believer. They have lived redeemed and enabled to remain un-Christlike by the modern-day pretentious Christian community that all look like Esaus spiritually. In that, for years living without revelation of Jesus in self-centered anger and bitterness with their spouse, or someone in their church, or their lost neighbor, or their earthly government, or living in secret sins… being then without the armor, have sold their birthright, being without understanding of what the spiritual battle is about (the essentialness of being formed into Jesus image) and are then actually a stumbling block to the sincere seeker who sees that, and emulates it, or even exceeds it in spiritual darkness, praying from a like place of blinded self-centeredness, not seeing what the Truth is about, that His power comes in ‘believers’ in His Word. Not those who have faith in their own faith… but those who are walking in THE faith. That of selfless Christlikeness in self-denial, taking up the cross, crucifying the selfish self-centered worldly old man in the soul, exercising His love in selflessness, and following Him. (Matthew 16:24… “Then Jesus said unto His disciples, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me…”)
1st Peter 5:8-11… “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in THE faith (which means the Holy Spirit-revealed understanding of New Testament Truth found in the Word in the way of following Jesus unto selfless Christlikeness, in loving faith while yet in this World), knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while (Christianity has for the greatest part been deceived by satan in wrongly blaming him or God for the ‘bad’ things in their lives. God is not today in this Dispensation going to ‘bind or stop’ the devil to make Christians’ lives more comfortable and happy, but is utilizing satan and his hordes to accomplish His will in the redeemed in Christ, in order to), -- make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (These are not just flowery words, we must grasp its meaning.)
Esau was moved by his feelings based upon his circumstances, and because he was not built up in the faith on the Rock, his house of straw that he had built came crashing down around him. But Jacob’s ‘perspective’ of the faith was different as he was building his house. He was not perfect, nor was he expected to be. He was living with a sincere heart, and his failures were not his downfall, but opportunities, points in time, to grow in wisdom and knowledge of God in meekness. Which he did. He thought not of himself as a failure… but first earnestly sought God and His great blessing in the light of his grandfather’s testimony in spite of his failures, and many sufferings. He ran not away from God… but walked towards Him in spite of often self-inflicted hardship, test and trial, or often by ‘opening the door’ to satan. Not losing heart or begging God to remove the storm and rescue him, which if had God done, he would have lost the soul-changing purpose of his afflictions. (2nd Corinthians 12:8-10) As the “…rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house (of his faith) and it fell not.” Not abandoning his pursuit of the promises by allowing his faith in the promises to be destroyed by his own missing the mark, by looking at the circumstances, giving up in the race and sitting down, TKO-ing himself and calling the fight for a minor nosebleed, and thereby frustrating the grace of the Holy Spirit, in the relatively very minor sufferings of his circumstances (2nd Corinthians 4), annulling what the Holy Spirit could have wrought in that soul continuing in selfless faith, a Christlike change in him, unto the fullness of the wisdom and understanding of God. Which if exercised, is ever-frustrating satan who was/is determined to bring a curse upon him/us. (1st Peter 1:1-11; 1st Peter 5:8-11)
So we should see the answer to ‘Why doesn’t God stop the storm, or the heaviness of manifold temptations, or trials of fire?’ The answer is “…that the trial (genuineness) of your faith (identifying with the loving walk of Jesus - 1st John 1:6… without murmuring and complaining - Jonah 2:6-10) …might be found unto praise and honour and glory (of the faithful soul raised up out of Hades in the First Resurrection) at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love, in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith (the great purpose of faith’s testing for the capacitating of Christlikeness in communion/co-union with Him, and the revealing of God’s manifold wisdom to the present rulers in the heavenly places… in manifesting Jesus in this Earth, that ‘Yes satan, I am really in selfless loving faith and surrendered to Jesus’) even the salvation of your souls.”
Consider this; that if we live a life as Esau, although we be children of the same father/Father of Jacob and ‘Circumcised/Baptized’ into the same ‘faith’ ‘family/Body, we will be judged unworthy of the ‘first-born blessing’ and suffer the same loss/punishment as he did.
Albeit Esau was not cursed, in that he has the minor blessing, the gift associated with being the child of the father, but has lost, by his own profane compromise, the spiritual blessing associated with the First-Born Son’s Resurrection.
The invitation for the heavenly Kingdom has gone out… all redeemed sons of God who will, may come today. But be assured, the scene of Esau is being played out every day. The redeemed, by the thousands, will pass from this Earth today (maybe even one of us) and will be carried by the angels of God, and pass through the Gates of Hades to be taken to their/our appointed place. The Lord set forth before us in Scripture two alternatives of internment in the ‘intermediate place of the dead;’ the ‘place of torment’ and ‘Abraham’s Bosom, the ‘place of comfort.’ The factors of determination as to where one goes in Hades follow the scene presented to us in Esau and Jacob. In that the rich man lived an Esau-like life. Both were redeemed sons of Abraham and both were aware of their promised kingdom inheritance. Both chose to live worldly lives over the spiritual life’s calling. Abraham spoke to the rich man in the same terms as Isaac spoke to dejected Esau who cried, “Father Abraham have mercy on me…” To which Abraham replied… Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.”
The Jewish rich man who lived selfishly was more profane than Esau! For he had more light. And if the real story exampled by Jesus of those saved Jewish ‘believers’ in Covenant with God, preliminarily (denoting an action or event preceding or done in preparation for something fuller or more important: that being the second resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgement) were judged at death, according to what they sowed on the Earth, then taken to their appropriate place in Hades, for a time justly determined… is, in context, a warning threat by Jesus to the religious presumptuous Pharisees who were living contrary to the principles of the birthright of the earthly Kingdom inheritance. So it may certainly be even more applied to the merely religious in the Body of Christ having much more light and who are refusing His Call to the heavenly Kingdom inheritance. (1st Corinthians 10, Hebrews 3&4)
And so it is that Esau is brought forth in the Book of Hebrews as a like exampled warning for those redeemed who, if not diligent followers of Jesus (Matthew 16:24), might “…fail of the grace of God (the powerful provision for forming in the redeemed Christlikeness in the Atonement of Jesus);… Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” This fifth and final warning of the Book of Hebrews concludes with a much sterner Father’s statement than Isaac: “….Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”
The vast majority of Christians are in the same religious stupor as the Pharisees; believing a lie, like Esau did, that they, being a child of the loving Father, may live a Worldly life and yet receive the birthright blessing. The tears will flow, the voice of the merely redeemed will cry exceedingly, when they see their brethren rising up out of the ‘place of comfort’ in the glorious Resurrection out from among the rest of the dead… ‘Oh Father, I have sinned, forgive me, please don’t shut me out in darkness from your Kingdom of brilliance!’ But the heavenly Kingdom of Christ’s inheritance is lost, sold for a streaming vapor. The time of living loving faith in Jesus being transformed into His image has passed.
