ARE WE IN BRAZIL OR SWITZERLAND?!

In this video, we visit the amazing, charming city of Nova Friburgo in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Nova Friburgo is known as the Switzerland of Brazil due to its charming architecture, mountains, and a large Swiss community that has lived there for a few generations now. We started our visit in one of the main squares of the city called Praça do Suspiro where you will find a cable car which will take you to the peak of the mountain nearby. There are two stops, one at a lower point which has restaurant, an arcade, a bowling alley, as well as a small amusement park for kids. The second stop that is located at a higher point on top of the hill has a wonderful view point from which you can see the whole city down below. There is also a trail that you can do if you are interested. After that visit, we had lunch and then went to another landmark of Nova Friburgo which is called Casa Suíça (Memorial da Colonização Suíça). In this building you will find a museum as well as a shop where you can purchase a variety of products such as chocolate, cheese, wine, jam, etc. Our next stop was another location called Amigos da Terra where you can find Museu do Mel (Museum of Honey) as well as a gift shop where you can purchase all kinds of product related to honey. The next day, we did a trail in a park called Pedra do cão sentado. After a 30 minute trail climbing up on the side of the mountain, you will arrive at a view point called Mirante do Cão Sentado where you will be able to see a huge piece of rock which resembles a sitting dog!
