Gregorian and Sacred Music, we appreciate and find peace in Christ, together we become more pious

What is Gregorian music?
Gregorian chant is a liturgical chant of the Roman Catholic Church, which emerged in Europe during the Middle Ages. Gregorian chant was institutionalized in the Catholic liturgy in the 6th century by Pope Gregory I (hence the origin of the name of this chant). One of the main objectives of Gregorian chant was to transmit the gospel, Christian values and beliefs through singing. In this way, the Catholic mass became more attractive and interesting to Christians in the Middle Ages. Its function is somewhat similar to the installation of stained glass windows, paintings and sculptures inside medieval churches and cathedrals.Although it emerged and developed in the Middle Ages, Gregorian chant is still sung by various musical groups (religious or secular) in various parts of the world.Main characteristics of Gregorian chant, exclusively Christian in theme:• Gregorian chant is sung in Latin.• Usually sung in churches and cathedrals. It uses the acoustics of the environment to highlight the voices and create a special sound effect.• Its structure generally follows the liturgy of the Catholic mass (introit, alleluia, offerings and communion).• Unlike much of the music that followed, Gregorian chant does not have a regular and measured rhythm. The rhythm is free and fluent, following the natural accents of the Latin language.• Some Gregorian chants are performed in an antiphonal style, where two groups or choirs alternate musical lines, while others are responsorial, involving a call and response between a soloist and the choir.• Much of the repertoire of medieval Gregorian chant is anonymous, that is, we do not know the authors. What we do know is that most of them were written by monks, who lived cloistered in European monasteries in the Middle Ages.* What is Sacred Music?Sacred music is a musical genre whose main objective is the worship and veneration of God, and is often used in religious contexts. This type of music is characterized by its lyrics that address spiritual, liturgical and devotional themes, and can be found in several religious traditions, including Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Sacred music is a way of expressing faith and spirituality, providing an environment conducive to reflection and meditation. The history of sacred music dates back to ancient times, with records dating back thousands of years. In the Jewish tradition, for example, psalms were sung as part of worship practices. With the advent of Christianity, sacred music evolved, incorporating elements of Gregorian music and the liturgical traditions of the Church. Over the centuries, renowned composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart contributed significantly to the development of this genre, creating works that are still revered in religious celebrations today.
