THE HISTORIC COLONIAL CITY OF TIRADENTES!

In this video, we visit the historic city of Tiradentes in Minas Gerais. We start by telling you a bit about the history of the city and where the name comes from before we get to the landmarks of the city and the beautiful colonial architecture of Tiradentes. First stop was the Igreja Matriz de Santo Antônio where there is said to be over 480kg of gold used in its construction! Unfortunately, at the time the slaves were not allowed to go to the Igreja Matriz de Santo Antônio, so they had to build another church for themselves which is located on a street parallel to the one where Igreja Matriz de Santo Antônio is located but at a lower elevation (Rua Direita); this church built for the slaves is called Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos. After that we continue our exploration of Tiradentes by walking around the city and just admiring the colonial style of all the buildings and the cobblestone streets; it is a truly remarkable site to see. We had a quick stop for lunch before we headed to the main square of the city where all the action happens. This square is called Largo das Forras and all around it you will find cafes, restaurants, art galleries, and other shops. There are also plenty of horse carriages for those who would like to visit all the tourist attractions of Tiradentes while being in a horse carriage. After the square, our next stop was the most famous street in Tiradentes which is called Rua Direita. This is actually where the church of Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos is located, but this time we show you the rest of the street along with its shops and other attractions. Our last stop was a fountain called Chafariz de São José which was built in 1749 and was at the time the main source of water for the whole city. We really hope you enjoy the video :)
