Today, we're taking a look at APE, the infamous 1976 disaster film that attempted to capitalize on the success of King Kong. However, what we were left with was a laughably bad attempt at a monster movie that has since become a cult classic for all the wrong reasons. Join me as we dissect just how bad APE truly is.
The premise of APE is simple enough: a giant ape, captured in Africa, is brought to Seoul, South Korea, where it wreaks havoc on the city. The film follows the efforts of a mismatched group of individuals, including a scientist and a big-game hunter, as they attempt to stop the rampaging beast. Sounds like a recipe for success, right? Wrong.
