BR's Forgotten High Speed Train - InterCity 250

Happy New Year! :D

To start 2025 off, we begin with a train that was unfortunately never meant to be, a successor to the InterCity 225 and the APT that was to have improved journey times and speeds on the West Coast Mainline through a mixture of a dedicated high speed trainset capable of 155mph and a raft of infrastructure improvements to compliment it.

Sadly, the InterCity 250 project of the early 1990s was one destined not to come to fruition, with speculation abounding as to whether it was a victim of BR's privatisation, wider economic woes, or it was simply a non-committal project developed to drum up value for the InterCity sector prior to its sale into the private sector.
