The Little Things That Can Change A Play

On Sunday CeeDee Lamb caught a ball with the sun in his eyes. He also completely lost a ball with the sun in his eyes. What was the difference?

Hi. My name is Dallas and this is Perry and I make Dallas Cowboys content. It’s amazing to me how much of football is decided by the little things. Let me show you what I mean.

It’s 3rd and 2 and the Cowboys run Lamb on a little crossing route, he’s got some traffic, but gets open and catches the ball for a first down.

Not much later it is 2nd and Goal. Lamb runs a slant and gets tremendous separation, but never sees the ball out of Cooper’s hands so the ball falls incomplete.

Did you see it?

Let's play both throws right next to each other. Can you see the difference? On the left we can see that the ball is thrown above Lamb’s head so he’s actually able to look above where the sun is coming in to track the ball into his hands. Now on the right we can see the ball has a much more horizontal trajectory crossing CeeDee at about hip level, as a result CeeDee is not able to spot the ball as well as if Rush had thrown the ball above his helmet…

And remember when I said so much of this game is decided by little things?

Ferguson is just a few yards to the right of CeeDee lamb, but he never lost the ball, and judging by his reaction I think he thinks he could have caught it.

You may or may not have noticed on the Thumbnail of this video it said 1 Kings 12. What does it have to do with this play… nothing really. Except I guess there is a son.

But this is the son of Solomon, Rehoboam. He has just inherited his father's throne and the people come to him with a request. Go easier on us then your father did and we will be your servants.

Rehoboam talks this over with two groups of advisers. Young and Old Men, and so we are set up with an interesting contrast.

The old men basically say. Serve them as they asked to be served and you will always have servants.

The young men basically say. Tell them that you're a much bigger, harder man than your father.

Rehoboam thinks it over and ignores what the old men say in favor of what the young men say.

The irony is that the Old men’s advice to be a servant to the people would have increased Rehoboams power, while the young men’s advice to boast of his power decreased his power. I just thought that was interesting and wanted to share it with you. If you like this content please consider sharing. That’s all I got. Jesus is king.
