Then the question is, will the chair of the committee, the applicable committee, proceed with the hearing? And if they proceed with the hearing, will they give it a vote in committee? Don’t assume that these people are un-confirmable. It may be that they are un-confirmable, one or more of them, but it’s wrong to assume that they’re un-confirmable.”
Here is one factor that those who say the Matt Gaetz nomination is dead are not considering: Every Republican Senator has donors, friends, staffers, constituents, and (in some cases) kin who want something from the incoming Trump administration, especially jobs. You think that the Trump White House is going to help out any Senator who comes out against Gaetz? That isn't even Politics 101; that is Politics 1.
