### 1. **Afghanistan**
Afghanistan is one of the world’s largest producers of lapis lazuli, a blue semi-precious stone that has been mined there since ancient times. This stone was used to create the blue in the paintings of Renaissance artists.
### 2. **Albania**
Albanians often nod their head up and down to say "no" and shake it side-to-side to say "yes"—the opposite of most places!
### 3. **Algeria**
Algeria is home to the Sahara Desert, which covers more than 80% of its land area, making it the largest country by land area in Africa.
### 4. **Andorra**
Andorra, a tiny principality between France and Spain, has no airport. Its only way in and out is by road, making it one of the few countries in the world without air travel facilities.
### 5. **Angola**
Angola has a beautiful natural wonder called the Tundavala Gap, a dramatic cliff that offers sweeping views from a height of nearly 1,200 meters (3,937 feet).
### 6. **Antigua and Barbuda**
Antigua and Barbuda is known as the "Land of 365 Beaches" because it boasts one beach for every day of the year.
### 7. **Argentina**
Argentina is where the first animated film in the world was created, by an artist named Quirino Cristiani in 1917. The film, called *El Apóstol*, was lost in a fire, making it a piece of cinema history that no one can see today.
### 8. **Armenia**
Armenia was the first country in the world to officially adopt Christianity as its state religion in 301 AD.
### 9. **Australia**
Australia is home to more than 10,000 beaches, so you could theoretically visit a new beach every day for over 27 years!
### 10. **Austria**
The sewing machine was invented in Austria by Josef Madersperger in the early 19th century.
### 11. **Azerbaijan**
Azerbaijan is often called the "Land of Fire" because of its naturally burning hillsides and mud volcanoes, some of which have been on fire for thousands of years.
### 12. **Bahamas**
The Bahamas is home to the world’s third-largest barrier reef, making it a paradise for divers and marine life enthusiasts.
### 13. **Bahrain**
Bahrain has no rivers or natural freshwater reservoirs. All of its fresh water is produced by desalination.
### 14. **Bangladesh**
Bangladesh has the world’s largest river delta, the Sundarbans Delta, which is formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers.
### 15. **Barbados**
Rihanna, the international superstar, was born in Barbados, and she was later named the country’s ambassador for culture and youth.
### 16. **Belarus**
Belarus is known as the “Lungs of Europe” due to its large forested areas, which cover about 40% of the country.
### 17. **Belgium**
Belgium produces over 1,000 different varieties of beer, with many breweries dating back hundreds of years. Belgian beer is even recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
### 18. **Belize**
Belize is home to the Great Blue Hole, a giant marine sinkhole that's a popular diving spot for its crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life.
### 19. **Benin**
Benin is the birthplace of Vodou (Voodoo), a religion still practiced by a large portion of the population and celebrated annually at the Voodoo Festival.
### 20. **Bhutan**
Bhutan measures national progress with "Gross National Happiness" rather than GDP, considering factors like social well-being and environmental health.
### 21. **Bolivia**
Bolivia has two capitals: La Paz (administrative) and Sucre (constitutional), making it one of the few countries with more than one capital city.
### 22. **Bosnia and Herzegovina**
The country is home to the Stari Most (Old Bridge) in Mostar, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of reconciliation.
### 23. **Botswana**
Botswana is home to the Okavango Delta, one of the largest inland deltas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
### 24. **Brazil**
Brazil has the largest number of uncontacted indigenous tribes in the world, mostly residing in the Amazon rainforest.
### 25. **Brunei**
Brunei is one of the world’s wealthiest nations due to its abundant oil and gas reserves, and its citizens enjoy free healthcare and education.
