Ep. 14: Meryl Dorey | Investigate Before You Vaccinate

Meryl Dorey moved from New York to Australia 34 years ago to start a life with her husband, who is a macadamia farmer. They have 4 children together - the eldest of whom reacted to the DTP vaccine at the age of 2 months old and again to the MMR vaccine at 18 months old. These events led Meryl to begin researching the subject - not an easy task before access to the internet became the norm. Five years later, after meeting dozens of other parents whose children had been harmed or killed by vaccines, Meryl started what’s now known as the Australian Vaccination-risks Network (AVN). From the beginning, its mission has been to support health freedom and the basic human right to decide what does or does not go into our own bodies or the bodies of our children. This volunteer-run group of parents and health practitioners lobbied for and got legislation passed that would give parents the right to conscientious objection to vaccination without facing discrimination or financial penalties. This was overturned in 2016 with the introduction of the No Jab No Pay and a short time later, No Jab No Play policies. Nonetheless, the AVN has continued doing its work and this year celebrated its 30 year anniversary. Meryl has recently retired from her role at the AVN and has since been focusing on her show, Under the Wire and writing articles on her Informed Choice Substack.
