The lesson on November 10, 2024 was part 15 of “The Book of Matthew” study. This lesson covers an important topic of healing and how it may cause the believer today some problems without right division. We know that God is sovereign and the he can heal anyone at anytime but the gift of healing was specific to Israel as well as other gifts. Wayne took time to review what was taught in the previous lesson and how the younger generation is reaching out to the unsaved Jew and bringing them to Christ. We learned that there is one Messiah that comes twice, and we looked at the Old Testament scriptures that explained both. In this lesson we first looked at being passages that have to do with healing. In Matthew 8:1-3, we see good examples of faith that when Jesus touched someone, they were healed immediately. (It is a good idea to study Leviticus 13 how the priests were trained how to avoid using touch in healing leprosy). At this time, you were not to touch anyone with leprosy but Jesus touched this person, and they were immediately healed. The Centurion showed great faith asking Jesus to just say the word that his servant would be healed… and in Matthew 8:13, after expressing how the Centurions faith had exceeded those wanting to be in the kingdom of heaven, the Lord healed his servant in the same hour. We looked at the verse referencing “whiter than snow” (from Psalm 51:6-7. Also look at Num. 12:10; 2 Ki. 5:27; Ps. 51:7; 68:14; Isa. 1:18; Lam. 4:7; Dan. 7:9; Matt. 28:3; Mk. 9:3; Rev. 1:14 KJV). We looked at verses that spoke of sickness and health in Exodus 15:26; 23:25 and Deuteronomy 7:15 KJV “And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.” We compared 1 Corinthians 12:28 KJV and Ephesians 4:11 KJV to see the dispensational change with healing.

The scripture reading was from Matthew 8:5-13 KJV “5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.”
