Wednesday Evening Bible Study Jeremiah 34-35-36 11-13-2024

Jeremiah chapters 34-35-36 deal with a contrast between obedient and disobedient Israelites. Chapter 34 reveals King Zedekiah and the people being disobedient to God's word that came thru Jeremiah.
Chapter 35 reveals the obedience of the Rechabites. They obeyed the instruction from their Grandfather and Father, but Zedekiah was not obedient to God's Word.
Chapter 36 deals with Jeremiah writing in a scroll the words that God wants him to share with the people. Since he was incarcerated, his helper, Baruch read it to the people. One of the leaders heard it and had his peers listen. They then took it to the King, who was Jehoiakim at that time. After Jehoiakim had heard just a small portion of it, he cut it in pieces and threw it in the fire place. Because of his disobedience and not listening to the Word of God, he died and had no descendants to follow him on the throne.
It is important for us to heed God's Word.
