Remembrance Day: Lest we forget
The National War Memorial in Ottawa, also known as "The Response", is a significant monument honoring Canadians who have died in wars. It's located in Confederation Square and features a tall granite arch with bronze sculptures1. The memorial was first dedicated in 1939 by King George VI and has since been rededicated to include Canadians who died in various conflicts, including the Second Boer War and the War in Afghanistan.

In front of the memorial is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which symbolizes the sacrifices made by all Canadians who have died or may yet die for their country. The National War Memorial is the focal point of the national Remembrance Day ceremony held every year on November 11th1.
