Doug Talks About: Do you trust the diagnosis?

My shows are always dedicated to being well armed with proper information when it comes to entering an office with the word “doctor” on the door. Medpage Today just ran this headline, Dentists Pulling “Healthy” and Treatable Teeth to Profit from Implants, Experts Warn. My dentist recently retired and this is exactly what I have found in interviewing potential new dentists. Finally, I met a dentist who said, “this isn't bad, I can fix it cosmetically”…and he did at a fraction of the fees I was being quoted. Then there is this headline posted on Pubmed.gov in 2017; Why Do Surgeons Continue to Perform Unnecessary Surgery? “Upselling” has always been a questionable part of selling. But, buying 4 pillows instead of the needed two pillows requires far less risk or investment than buying a surgery that is necessary. Honestly, sometimes the recommended surgery or procedure is correct, but sometimes it isn’t. On Monday morning from 11-Noon, let’s discuss the 3 most important things you can do if you have a hunch that any surgery or procedure that a doctor recommends is not necessary. Please join me and ask a friend to join us also! - Doug
