STAGGERING Israeli Violence SHOCKS UNIFIL in Lebanon!

Right, so by the time everything finally settles down in the Middle East and people look back on what we’re observing now in the history books, the documented daily occurrences experienced by the UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon, UNIFIL, will end up reading like something akin to a war diary, especially in the last month or so where Lebanon has come under invasion by Israeli forces.
Where Israel has tried and ostensibly failed to make any real progress, gain any ground in trying to invade Lebanon, beaten back as they have been by Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army, along with the peacekeepers of UNIFIL as well, it hasn’t been for lack of trying and each and every attempt has been another nail in the coffin for what still passes for Israel’s global reputation as a civilised democracy.
Nothing has summed that up more of course than direct attacks on UNIFIL themselves, UN mandated peacekeepers patrolling the Israel Lebanese border, because they themselves have come under direct attack by Israel for every single day of the whole of October and there’s no let up in sight yet, with Israeli demands that they move still coming despite their record of failure.
Right, so for every single day of October, Israeli forces have attacked UNIFIL, the United Nations Interim Forces In Lebanon, there to keep the peace as they have done since 1978, standing to keep the peace on that Israel Lebanese border, working with the Lebanese army in that, not Israel, because Israel do not welcome them, never have, never will. Given that the history books are ones of recording Israeli attempts to invade Lebanon and not the other way round over the years that is perhaps not too much of a surprise either, the blue and white Zionist state a Western enforced colonial power foisted upon Arab lands by Imperial Western idiocy, an idiocy for which there is no let up now in this day and age sadly from the two parties who take turns in power here in the UK certainly.
UNIFIL have been for weeks now pretty much been putting out almost daily reports of what Israel have been doing and how their duties have been affected, how their people have been opposed and attacked and more and more people should absolutely be following UNIFIL on social media, Twitter and Telegram are especially good ways to do so, to see what Israel is doing day after day to the peacekeepers mandated to keep that peace in a bid to shove them aside, force them to back off, bully them into submission and failing. Here’s a couple examples from this week:
‘November 5th
Bombing has damaged infrastructure in south Lebanon, making some roads impassable. Our peacekeepers from various contingents are clearing rubble and repairing roads between villages, restoring safe passage for peacekeepers.
This ensures that vital supplies reach UN positions so that peacekeepers can continue their mandated tasks in areas heavily impacted by violence.
November 7th
This afternoon, a UNIFIL convoy bringing newly-arrived peacekeepers to south Lebanon was passing Saida when a drone strike occurred nearby.

Five peacekeepers were lightly injured and treated by the Lebanese Red Cross on the spot. They will continue to their posts. The Lebanese Army also confirmed three of its soldiers at the nearby checkpoint were injured.
We remind all actors of their obligation to avoid actions putting peacekeepers or civilians in danger. Differences should be resolved at the negotiating table, not through violence.
November 8th
Yesterday, two IDF excavators and one IDF bulldozer destroyed part of a fence and a concrete structure in a UNIFIL position in Ras Naqoura. In response to our urgent protest, the IDF denied any activity was taking place inside the UNIFIL position.
The IDF’s deliberate and direct destruction of clearly identifiable UNIFIL property is a flagrant violation of international law and resolution 1701. We again remind the IDF and all actors of their obligation to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times.
Since 30 September, the IDF has repeatedly demanded that peacekeepers leave their positions near the Blue Line “for their safety.” Yesterday’s incident, like seven other similar incidents, is not a matter of peacekeepers getting caught in the crossfire, but of deliberate and direct actions by the IDF.
We also note with concern the destruction and removal this week of two of the blue barrels that mark the UN-delineated line of withdrawal between Lebanon and Israel (the Blue Line). Peacekeepers directly observed the IDF removing one of them.
Despite the unacceptable pressures being exerted on the mission through various channels, peacekeepers will continue to undertake our mandated monitoring and reporting tasks under resolution 1701.’
That is what UNIFIL have had to deal with just in the last week, so when I say they’ve also been attacked for basically every day of the whole of October before this by the Israeli army, it really does show how little they care for the agreements they’ve signed up to when it stops them doing what they want to do and like the spoilt brats they are, the Israeli forces just do what they like anyway and then have the nerve to plead victim over it.
Throughout October, UNIFIL reported that they’d been attacked more than 30 times in a 31 day month, with tensions having significantly increased. Property damage and injuries, just as those examples tell of from a moment ago have gone on throughout the previous month, as Israel demand UNIFIL leave their positions and UNFIL resolutely refuse to do so. They have a job to do, they have a monitoring operation to conduct, they make reports on their observations which get fed back directly to the UN Security Council, which presumably the US just completely ignore, despite them having voted in favour of UNIFIL continuing it’s 46 year role each and every year said action is voted on to continue.
Of the 30 reported incidents, 20 have been directly attributed to Israeli fire and action, where that has been demonstrably proven and of those 7 were deemed intentional. That, given UNIFIL’s latest report from just last Friday as detailed a moment ago where bulldozers have been deployed against UNIFIL positions would seem to be another blatant and intentional attack on the brave men and women facing down a bunch of cowards who would raze villages in Lebanon, just as they did in Gaza, with all the innocents in front of them, if they were not making their stand.
Yet Israel continue and now once more they are making demands that UNIFIL move out of their way, even as footage comes out from the last day of Israel destroying parts of an Irish UNIFIL outpost spread across social media.
They are now demanding UNFIL stop moving around the entire area south of the Litani River, the zone in Southern Lebanon between said river and the Israeli border the entire area that UNIFIL operate in, so basically Israel are demanding UNIFIL stop doing what they are mandated to do entirely now. This entire region incidentally was what the US were trying to force Lebanon to cede sovereignty over and allow Israel to take over in exchange for a ceasefire, which Lebanon quite rightly told the US and their Israeli negotiator to stick where the sun doesn’t shine. Still Israel are making the same demands and still the UN sits on its hand, watches, condemns, wrings its hands and frets a bit. Where is the support for UNIFIL, because before much longer Israel are going to end up emboldened to take things even further, with likely lethal consequences. The inaction now is inexcusable and if the US is the hold up, then they need to be bypassed, because a global political body being held up by one nation is ridiculous.
Quite aside from that and despite thousands evacuating southern Lebanon, thousands of people remain trapped in villages who cannot get out, cannot escape the fighting, cannot get aid and essential resources without UNIFIL as well as the only protection they have is from the peacekeepers and it is for that reason these people will not leave their posts in the face of daily attacks by Israel, seemingly hell bent on expanding it’s genocide and enabled to by constant arming and political cover being provided for them, against human rights, against humanitarian law and against everything that is good and decent and just. Israel is out of control is not being reined in and so it is a brave line of peacekeepers standing up where all others who should be are failing to. These men and women are who we should look up to, are the ones who most deserve our support and it is incumbent on us to keep calling out our failing politicians and the genocidal apartheid state of Israel where they refuse to because frankly it is the least any of us can do when these guys are risking their lives, some of the few and far between right now doing the right thing and opposing the actual perpetrators of Middle Eastern atrocity.
Where UNIFIL might operate to a remit in staring down Israeli forces though, the likes of Hezbollah aren’t quite so constrained and nor are their allies the Houthis, who got bombed overnight by US and UK forces for having taken another shot at Israel, targeting their main air base in the Negev Desert with another of their hypersonic Palestine-2 ballistic missiles, as well as having taken down yet another $30m US made reaper drone, their 12th so far. Where the west still refuses to hold Israel to account and where the mainstream media won’t cover it, foreign media and alternative media absolutely will. Get all the details of that story in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch and I’ll hopefully catch you on the next vid. Cheers folks.
