Matters Go From Bad To CATASTROPHIC For Sky News Over Israel!

Right, so when you work in the news media from a big mainstream network, to a YouTube channel like mine, your reputation is everything, or at least it should be. If you’ve been caught out for deliberately lying or misleading, then that obviously damages trust amongst your viewership. For a small outlet like me, that’s the difference between life and death in my view, if you aren’t honest if you aren’t straight with your audience, you end the relationship you have with them, you change it irrevocably, people will turn off and go elsewhere and that is unsurvivable.
The same is fundamentally true of mainstream media, in that sure, some people will turn off, but many won’t though, many already have such a jaded view of the media anyway, that they watch it and keep in mind they may not be watching the truth, may think it doesn’t influence them to some degree despite that, that it’s just what we have in the UK and they just accept it. Aside from that mainstream media backers, billionaire press barons have deep enough pockets to keep outlets going through whatever controversy they’ll have stirred up for themselves along with the right people in the right jobs overseeing news output. Maybe a head will roll somewhere, but functionally it will always continue as long as it has an audience and the audiences are huge and therefore wealthy people investing in them to keep on promoting establishment friendly narratives will continue. My channel literally came into existence because UK mainstream media sources are so untrustworthy and I wanted to challenge that in my own small way, growing away though for which I’m grateful of course, but the conduct of Sky News in particular, though not uniquely, concerning the events in Amsterdam of Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv, have exposed this behaviour in the mainstream media possibly more blatantly than I could ever have imagined possible with all the fallout it deserves following. But will it make a difference or will people just carry on watching them, or go elsewhere?
Right, so Sky News have in the last 24 hours or so given a masterclass in how dishonest mainstream media outlets can be, having altered headline footage regarding the conduct of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam ahead of and following their match with Dutch club Ajax, where they deservedly lost 5-0 just for the record.
As has been shown virally across social media, because Sky News didn’t take it down fast enough, having actually done their job, done good journalism and reported the truth, when many other media outlets were absolutely not, that footage got taken down and altered not one, but twice.
The original video clip features Sky News reporter Alice Porter discussing the actions of Maccabi fans ahead of their match against Ajax ripping down Palestinian flags from buildings. Ahead of the match, fans were heard chanting racist slogans, singing anti arab songs. Before the match there was a minute’s silence held for the Spanish flood victims in Valencia, which Maccabi fans disrupted, again chanting, singing and even letting off fireworks, presumably in response to Spain’s increasingly anti Israeli stance. After the match Maccabi fans were seen attacking locals whilst the police seemingly did nothing about it.
Porter continued in her report by saying:
‘Israeli far right ultras are notorious for their racism and physical violence.’ Which really did nail home the fact that so much of what was perpetrated came from Israel’s fans.
It was also noted in her report that a Pro Palestinian demo cancelled by the Green Party mayor of Amsterdam for fear of clashes whist Maccabi fans were in Amsterdam, that there were people going around with Palestine flags were seen on the streets after the match and Maccabi fans claimed they were beaten by locals.
Following the match 62 arrests made, 5 hospitalisations but no info on who exactly they were, be they locals or Israelis.
The report finished with the reports we’ve since heard claiming that the Dutch, British and Israeli governments in the immediate aftermath condemned the conduct of and the attacks on Israeli hooligans were antisemitic, once again conflating Zionism with Judaism falsely and offensively, but we’ve become quite used to certain politicians repeatedly doing that, with other commentators even referring to it as a pogrom, a riot intended to massacre or expel Jews, certainly Benjamin Netanyahu himself compared it to such by invoking the memory of Kristallnacht, the pogrom ahead of World War II, but once again a message was sent to the world that Israelis should be treated differently, that they can do things nobody else is allowed to, like cause damage and be racist and for all we know instigate as many fights as were instigated against them and there can be no denial there was no violence in Amsterdam until they came, a football club, who’s fans are notorious for their appalling conduct. The excuses have just worn so thin.
If Sky News had left that there, they’d have ostensibly given better media coverage than any other mainstream media outlet. The BBC had done a piece that laid it on so thick for the Israelis on their website, it got taken down when the sheer scale of how dishonest a piece it actually was became apparent, but other media gave equally rancid and fawningly one sided information passed off as news to the public too, the Guardian and Jewish News were particularly singled out by the pro Palestine anti-Zionist Jewish Twitter account Jews Sans Frontieres, along with a rinsing for politicians such as Joe Biden, David Lammy, Justin Trudeau and supposedly Jewish representative organisations, such as the Board of Deputies and the Holocaust Educational Trust, falling over themselves once more to excuse Israel.
It's from places like that, the Zionist organisations, the politicians, that you wonder what must have been said to Sky News to get them to change their coverage. Where journalists are supposed to hold truth to power, what Sky has apparently done, is give way to it. They should stand by their journalism, it was a good report, to take it down and to spin an alternative is weak and hapless and dishonest. Honesty and integrity are key to journalism otherwise why should anyone believe you?
Well it seems Sky caved to pressure from somewhere as the video clip of that interview by Alice Porter disappeared from social media, but not before it was captured by other accounts, hence it having now gone viral, being shared by others as the prime example of media dishonesty it now is. A good report on Israeli thuggery now causing equal damage to Sky’s reputation and by extension to any other outlets spreading the same pro Israel narratives in light of this story.
Now Sky claimed this deletion was all done in order to give a better and more accurate depiction of events, that the previous good video apparently didn’t meet Sky’s editorial guidelines. So what did they do? What new information had come to warrant the alteration? What was incorrect that had to be removed? Well there is a part of the video where Maccabi Tel Aviv fans are coming down an escalator and chanting anti Arab and racist slogans. Sky simply removed it. So providing blatant cover for Israel given the original video footage showed the football fans clearly doing this. It wasn’t made up you literally had footage of it, therefore the only reason you removed it was because pressure was put upon a news outlet supposedly there to hold power to account, instead caved into it. Then that version got taken down as well because clearly they still hadn’t caved enough!
Then yesterday, matters were made even worse for Sky and the rest of our mainstream media, when a spokesperson for the Dutch police came forward and held a press conference in which he said:
‘Maccabi supporters ripped a flag from a building on the Rokin, (a central square) and they destroyed a taxi. On Dam Square a Palestinian flag was set on fire.’
But we’re all told this was an antisemitic attack, that we should once again feel sorry for Israel, because they have permanent victim status, even when they behave as they blatantly have here as thugs and racists.
Today, matters have worsened further for Sky, because if heads are going to roll, the prime suspect for that may be their head of news Sandy Rashty, who also happens to be a massive Zionist who also contributes to Jewish News and the Jewish Chronicle, two ostensibly right wing outlets with Zionist agendas of their own, all in all compounding Sky’s actions all the more, all the more begging more the questions of whether they have a pro Israel agenda with such people at the top and when people get called antisemitic for wondering if there is a Zionist infiltration at the top of the establishment in the UK, quite aside from the Zionist donations to politicians, here you have one it would appear at the top of the news directorship at Sky! No Israeli influence in our media? Where here's some right here is there not? Just look at Rashty’s Twitter feed and see what you think.
Our own politicians here in the UK, speaking of them, are still plugging that same narrative. David Lammy I mentioned earlier, he tweeted out in response to the scenes of Israeli atrocity in Amsterdam – the following I might add, this was Friday so after initial news reports came out, saying:
‘I am horrified by last night’s antisemitic attacks on Israeli citizens in Amsterdam.
My thoughts are with those injured, their families and everyone affected.
I utterly condemn these abhorrent acts of violence and stand with Israeli and Jewish people around the world.’
Unless those Jewish people happened to also be condemning Israeli atrocity in Amsterdam, or who knows? May even have been victims of it themselves. Starmer retweeted this rinsing message, neither man has retracted at time of writing, nor have they offered any clarification, preferring this false narrative to hang in the air.
Antisemitism weaponised again to excuse literally anything Israelis might do even down to football violence and the mainstream media caved into it too.
As far as I’m concerned, the importance of independent media outlets and the coverage of British events in foreign media too have never been more important. Sky news have done more damage to their own reputation, along with those media outlets aping this same message in a little over 24 hours, than they’ve possibly done in years.
It might not be particularly scientific but former footballer Stan Collymore ran a Twitter poll asking ‘do you trust mainstream journalism (tv, paper and online)’ and 91% said ‘no’ of more than 10,000 respondents. If that’s true, if that’s you, then stop feeding it by still watching it or reading it. Get your news elsewhere, support your favourite independent media whoever that might be instead of buying a paper or watching journalists who’s narratives are more likely to be being unduly influenced from behind the scenes and most especially of all on matters when it comes to Israel. They may have bought political and media influence, but the smaller outlets who’s reputation is everything to them, who would be destroyed by a scandal such as that Sky has been hit with, simply cannot afford to be anything other than straightforward and honest. Seems obvious doesn’t it?
I covered more on the mainstream media’s pro Israel bias in this video recommendation here, more on the football story in Amsterdam along with several other examples that have been less well covered in the last few days than that football match including the raiding of a church, so check that out as your suggested next watch and I’ll hopefully catch you on the next vid. Cheers folks.
