Waterloo (1970) is a grand-scale historical war film that recreates the legendary Battle of Waterloo, where Napoleon Bonaparte faced his final defeat. Directed by Sergei Bondarchuk, the movie stars Rod Steiger as the intense and ambitious Napoleon and Christopher Plummer as the cool, calculated Duke of Wellington. Known for its incredible realism, Waterloo used 17,000 Soviet soldiers as extras to stage epic battle scenes with no CGI in sight.
