This is an interview between Andrew Napolitano and Colonel Douglas McGregor at the end of the 2024 American presidential election. They mainly discussed three of his major leaders: Trump's future cabinet and its implications for political change, the situation Israel with the limogeage of the Gallant Defense Minister for Netanyahu, and the current era of war in Ukraine. McGregor expresses his concerns regarding Trump's powerful choices for his cabinet tout en soulignant son opposition personnelle à la guerre. Concerning Israel, he analyzes internal tensions and the implications of recent attacks against Iran. In Ukraine, McGregor describes a catastrophic situation with many massive Ukrainian forces and predicts the inevitable end of the conflict. The souligne the ineffectiveness of the current American aid and the necessity of a radical change of policy. The interview ended on the need for Trump to act decisively after arriving at the opportunity via presidential decrees.

0:31
hi everyone Judge Andrew napalitano here
0:33
for judging Freedom today is Wednesday
0:36
November 6 2024 the day after a
0:40
tumultuous and decisive American
0:42
presidential election Colonel Douglas
0:44
McGregor joins us now Colonel McGregor
0:47
welcome here always a pleasure uh my
0:49
dear friend we both had late nights uh
0:51
last night um I want to talk to you at
0:54
some length uh about the collapse of
0:57
Ukraine as you have said in slow motion
1:00
but of course we need to uh address the
1:03
likely changes if any in American
1:07
foreign policy ATT tenant upon the
1:09
election of Donald Trump you served in
1:12
Trump's defense department as a senior
1:15
adviser I believe for the yes last year
1:18
year and a half two years of his uh
1:22
first
1:23
term um
1:26
recently he mentioned that among his
1:28
candidates to become Secretary of
1:31
Defense would be of all people Mike
1:33
Pompeo and Tom
1:35
Cotton he has notoriously a $100 million
1:39
debt to Mrs Sheldon
1:42
adelon taking into account your
1:45
knowledge of the defense department and
1:48
these uh facts the debt to Mrs adelon
1:51
and the interest in cotton and Pompeo
1:54
what does this tell
1:58
you well let's keep in mind that uh he's
2:01
now on his way to being
2:04
commander-in-chief and while the
2:07
donors exert enormous influence as you
2:09
rightly point out he is now
2:12
commander-in-chief and he has to make
2:14
decisions that he thinks are in the
2:16
interest of the American people first
2:18
and
2:19
foremost whether or not he picks from
2:22
the Slate that uh you just mentioned or
2:25
decides on another course of action is
2:28
unknown you and and many others judge I
2:31
think Ron Paul was someone else ran Paul
2:34
uh Mike Lee many people have said to him
2:37
repeatedly over the years personnel's
2:40
policy I think he understands that I
2:42
think he knows it so we can't be 100%
2:46
certain of whatever the rumors are right
2:48
now we have to frankly we do have to be
2:50
patient wait and see because I can tell
2:52
you from my interaction with him that in
2:56
his heart of hearts this is someone who
2:58
is absolutely opposed to war this is
3:01
someone who doesn't want any wars
3:03
doesn't want
3:05
conflict and if he's got the flexibility
3:08
and maneuver room to avoid it he will do
3:10
so and I think he does I think it's
3:14
actually very good that we we are at a
3:16
kind of standstill in the Middle East
3:18
right now and I think given what's
3:21
happening in Ukraine that can be uh
3:24
closed out quicker and sooner than
3:27
obviously the Middle East but I think
3:29
that's his in inclination and he's he's
3:32
beset with so many challenges the last
3:35
thing he needs is conflict overseas it's
3:38
not going to help him here at home it's
3:39
not going to help him achieve what he
3:41
wants to here in the United States and
3:43
as we've always said and I think he
3:45
believes this as well the most important
3:47
things happen right here inside the
3:49
United States not beyond our
3:51
borders Colonel Mrs Adon gave him a 100
3:54
million to expand the borders of Israel
3:57
and the first phone call he took last
4:00
night 2:00 in the morning was from
4:03
Benjamin
4:05
Netanyahu and he said a month ago that
4:08
he told Netanyahu he'd give him whatever
4:10
he needed so I don't I don't uh share I
4:13
don't have the knowledge of the way the
4:15
defense department works or the way the
4:17
military works I know the way his head
4:19
works from all the time I spent with him
4:22
but I don't share your um optimistic
4:26
view that the neocons will be banished I
4:29
mean why would he even be considering
4:31
people like cotton or Pompeo unless he
4:34
wants a World War II a trigger happppy
4:36
person somebody who's happy to fund 850
4:39
foreign military installations no matter
4:42
the cost to the
4:44
taxpayer no I you know I can't refute
4:47
your argument I I think that's a good
4:49
point we've seen in the past though that
4:51
regardless of whom m is there he
4:55
continues to think for himself and does
4:57
what he wants in spite of all the advice
4:59
he yet now the good news I think if
5:02
there is any is that the people in the
5:04
defense part department at lower levels
5:06
in the armed forces especially the Army
5:08
and the Air Force and I think to a
5:10
lesser extent the Navy are all acutely
5:13
sensitive to the prospects of a major
5:16
major war in the region and we're not
5:19
prepared for it and he knows we're not
5:21
prepared for it I'm sure he's been told
5:23
that uh not necessarily by the Harris
5:26
Administration but by others who are in
5:28
a position to know so it would be very
5:30
very foolish for him to pursue a course
5:33
of action that guarantees future
5:36
conflict now beyond that I I don't know
5:39
what he's going to do expanding the
5:40
borders of Israel sounds great and then
5:43
you got to look at the map and and
5:44
figure out how you are going to reach
5:47
some sort of amical amicable agreement
5:50
with hundreds of millions of people who
5:52
are affected by those changes right you
5:54
and I know that's a tall
5:56
order would uh prime minister Netanyahu
6:00
whose uh Behavior seems to be utterly
6:03
and totally devoted to preserving his
6:05
own time in office and his own
6:08
legacy uh consider fighting a war with
6:11
Iran without a promise from president
6:13
Trump to back them up I think it's
6:16
unlikely although you don't know the
6:19
extent to which he feels he can trap the
6:22
the future president as well as the
6:24
current Administration in a war that
6:27
they would otherwise not want to fight
6:29
the was always my concern that uh things
6:31
would get off the ground before the
6:33
election presenting whomever was uh
6:36
voted into office with a fate of calm
6:38
plea so you know that's that's a that's
6:42
no longer on the table right but here
6:44
consider this for a second there are a
6:46
lot of people with greater expertise
6:48
than I have in the Middle East and many
6:50
of them have told me that the Iranians
6:53
have have also waited for the outcome of
6:56
this election and given his very
6:57
forceful rhetoric very belligerent
7:00
rhetoric towards uh Iran the thinking in
7:04
ton is that they might as well let loose
7:07
and do as much damage as they can to
7:09
Israel regardless because there's no
7:12
point in exercising any more restraint
7:15
because there's no evidence uh that Mr
7:18
Trump is prepared to exercise that
7:19
restraint so that's that's a good
7:22
example of what the impact of the
7:23
election is at least in the minds of the
7:26
Iranians now on the Israeli side it may
7:28
be the opposite they may feel that
7:31
they're now entitled to use whatever
7:32
they have to destroy the nuclear
7:34
facilities and potentially go after the
7:37
oil production system who knows again
7:40
this is all speculative and I wish I
7:42
knew more just as you do but I think we
7:45
have to reckon with those kinds of
7:47
feelings right now well one of the
7:49
certainties is that Lloyd Austin will be
7:51
back on the Ron
7:53
[Laughter]
7:55
board I shouldn't laugh the revolving
7:58
door is reprehensible but well known and
8:01
and acknowledged by the people who
8:04
enjoy uh the benefits of it
8:08
yesterday as if to time this with the
8:11
American uh presidential election or
8:15
perhaps to time it with the revelation
8:18
of
8:19
embarrassing National Security Israeli
8:23
National Security documents showing that
8:26
he PR prime minister Netanyahu effect
8:29
undermined the uh ceasefire negotiations
8:33
the Prime Minister
8:35
fired uh his defense secretary or
8:39
defense minister the defense minister
8:42
gave reasons why he believes he was
8:44
fired we'll we'll run a brief clip on
8:46
that uh in a minute um yesterday it was
8:51
also revealed that a Israeli Court
8:54
lifted a gag order on
8:57
shinb and shinb
9:00
the Israeli FBI announced that it has
9:03
been investigating Netanyahu since June
9:06
of this year as to what he knew and when
9:08
he knew it about October 7th of 2023
9:11
what do you make of all
9:12
this well some of your viewers may
9:15
recall that uh gold mayir was ultimately
9:19
held responsible for the disaster in
9:22
1973 ostensibly because she decided to
9:27
uh disregard warnings about an imminent
9:30
Egyptian attack across the canal now in
9:32
those days it was a little different the
9:35
Egyptians had practiced assaulting the
9:37
canal so many
9:38
times that the Israelis became convinced
9:41
that they were watching something
9:43
similar to what we used to see in East
9:45
Germany when I was stationed there with
9:48
the the Soviets would also practice
9:50
these moves that looked like imminent
9:52
attacks toward the west and then just
9:55
before they reached the Border they
9:57
would halt turn around and then go back
10:00
to their barracks and PR prepare to
10:02
repeat the same sort of thing in the
10:03
future that was a terrible mistake there
10:06
was also a view that there was
10:08
incompetence in 1973 in terms of the way
10:11
things were set up and the very weak
10:14
Manning of the of the line in Suez so
10:18
the Israelis know what they're doing
10:20
when when this sort of thing comes and I
10:22
do think that it will become very very
10:24
clear that 7 October was allowed to
10:26
happen that it shouldn't have happened
10:29
and I think that will come out and that
10:30
of course will be the end of Mr
10:31
Netanyahu forever the question is will
10:34
the Israeli State itself survive all of
10:36
this in the long run and I still think
10:39
that's very much up to uh well it's it's
10:42
simply unknown here's um now Former
10:48
Defense Minister uh Galant this is a
10:50
10-minute statement but uh Chris has
10:53
edited it down to less than a minute
10:56
giving what he says are the three
10:58
reasons
11:00
why it was fired they're all very
11:01
interesting for our purposes Colonel
11:04
it's in Hebrew but there is a
11:05
translation of course Sonia cut number
11:07
six this
11:09
dismissal comes as a result of a dispute
11:12
on three issues the
11:16
first my Firm
11:18
Stance that everyone who is eligible to
11:21
be drafted to the military must be
11:24
drafted to the military they must serve
11:26
in the IDF and protect the state of
11:28
Israel
11:29
second topic our moral obligation to
11:35
return our sons and daughters the
11:39
hostages the third topic the need to uh
11:45
imp Implement
11:47
uh learning from the mistakes of the war
11:50
I support a deep investigation into
11:54
looking into uh who is responsible and I
11:58
call for National Commission of inquiry
12:01
so none of this should come as a
12:03
surprise Colonel I suggest that the
12:06
argument that everybody is capable of
12:08
drafted must be drafted refers to the
12:10
Orthodox and Ultra Orthodox the Israeli
12:14
Supreme Court by a vote of 6 to1 said
12:16
that their reading of the law was that
12:19
the Orthodox were subject to the draft
12:22
Netanyahu obviously resisted that
12:24
notwithstanding the lopsided vote in the
12:26
Supreme Court because of the uh
12:29
right-wing members of his cabinet who
12:31
didn't want it second one I suggest
12:34
refers to those documents showing that
12:36
Netanyahu was willing to sacrifice the
12:38
hostages in order to extend the war and
12:41
the third I suggest you has to do with
12:43
an investigation of nety himself does
12:46
this make sense to you oh I think it
12:48
does uh something most Americans don't
12:52
understand is that contrary to many of
12:54
their assumptions and beliefs Israel at
12:57
its founding was by no means religious
13:00
State the Israeli state was founded by
13:02
Jews in the ethnic cultural racial sense
13:06
of the word most of them were absolutely
13:09
not religious and in fact in the
13:11
discussion someone raised the question
13:13
of whether or not they might consider
13:16
barring the immigration of the Jewish
13:19
sex that you're referring to into Israel
13:23
and the consensus was we don't need to
13:25
do that because life here is tough it's
13:28
hard it's dangerous
13:29
they'll never come here well of course
13:31
they were wrong and now they are a
13:33
substantial portion of the population
13:35
that wield uh wields real power so I
13:39
think that's a that's a sore point for
13:41
most of the Israelis that serve in the
13:43
armed forces and have served in the past
13:46
secondly I think Galant is also
13:49
signaling that he was not responsible
13:51
for what happened on S October and is
13:54
quite anxious to see the person who is
13:57
held accountable I suspect that will
13:59
Netanyahu but Gant also knows that when
14:01
you take a job like this as a defense
14:04
minister in the middle of a war you're
14:07
you're inevitably going to end up at
14:08
some point somebody's scapegoat or
14:11
sacrificial lamb so I think he was also
14:14
making that clear and finally he's
14:17
talking about the lessons that have to
14:18
be learned that weren't learned well
14:21
let's be frank things have not gone well
14:23
in Gaza they haven't gone well in
14:24
southern Lebanon and the Israelis have
14:27
done everything they can to conceal that
14:29
particular truth now how high were the
14:32
casualties I don't know but he don't
14:33
have to go very high in Israel before it
14:35
has a profound impact on the population
14:38
and I think that's another IR for him I
14:40
think he was also someone else that said
14:42
look we have to practice economy of
14:45
enemies and you'll remember a few weeks
14:47
ago we watched a a cabinet meeting where
14:50
Netanyahu said we're we're on we're
14:52
fighting on five fronts and then
14:54
subsequently it was on seven and we're
14:57
going to settle accounts effectively
14:58
with with everyone we're going to go and
15:00
we're going to destroy everyone I think
15:02
Gant was one of those people that said
15:03
that's not possible we have to reign in
15:06
or suppress these expectations we have
15:08
to look at our resources our
15:10
capabilities we have to focus like a
15:12
laser on what we need to do quickly and
15:15
win as opposed to what you're planning
15:17
which is a effectively a limitless war
15:20
of course all of that is predicated on
15:22
unconditional support from us for
15:24
whatever they do and I I don't think
15:26
Galant was someone who believed that
15:28
that was going to work over the long
15:30
term uh the other side of the coin is
15:33
that Gant is a is a committed Zionist he
15:36
just uh has a softer approach to all of
15:39
this Colonel uh do we know the nature
15:42
and extent of the if any damage
15:45
caused uh to Iran to its missile defense
15:49
system by the uh Abridged uh Israeli uh
15:55
attack 10 days
15:57
ago let's what it did way and I haven't
15:59
seen the photos but I've been briefed on
16:02
the
16:03
sidelines uh the Israelis succeeded in
16:06
doing more damage than people thought at
16:08
the time the Iranians obviously weren't
16:11
interested in advertising that but they
16:13
struck some
16:14
vulnerabilities uh especially the
16:16
missile production system and I think uh
16:19
that's that's had an impact in Iran on
16:22
the other hand their air and missile
16:25
defenses worked brilliantly in the sense
16:28
that the became very clear that they
16:30
could not essentially break through the
16:32
air and missile defenses and eat with
16:34
ease and bomb at will which was the plan
16:37
in other words we go in we defang the
16:40
the Iranians and then we can fly with
16:43
impunity anywhere we want that was not
16:46
possible so I think the Iranians are
16:48
acutely sensitive to what happened and
16:50
they're working very very hard right now
16:53
to compensate for those vulnerabilities
16:55
if not eliminate them and that's why you
16:57
know the Russians are Shi in Su
17:00
35s the Iranian Pilots are working
17:02
closely with the Russian Pilots learn
17:04
how to fly them properly I still would
17:06
not rule out the possibility that
17:08
Russian Pilots end up flying some of
17:10
those in the future Colonel I want to
17:13
play a clip for you from General Jack
17:15
Keane on Fox News who has his own unique
17:20
view of the uh damage he says was caused
17:24
by the Israelis I invite your attention
17:27
to the last five or six words that he
17:30
uses I won't I won't jump the gun you'll
17:34
hear them this is only about half a
17:35
minute long Sonia cut number three
17:38
military effects of that strike uh is
17:41
beyond what's being reported because
17:43
they have literally taken down most of
17:45
the Russian air defense system the
17:47
so-called
17:48
s300 uh missile defense systems that the
17:51
Russians gave them years ago and and
17:53
that's what's really protecting their
17:55
nuclear Enterprise their oil and gas
17:58
industry and other key strategic assets
18:01
like the missile production factories
18:04
that the Israelis did destroy at
18:06
multiple sites uh those are ballistic
18:09
missile factories by the way so yes this
18:13
air defense system destruction is really
18:15
powerful because Iran is sitting there
18:18
essentially
18:19
naked is Iran sitting there essentially
18:22
naked Colonel McGregor no no that's an
18:26
exaggeration but he's half right and
18:28
he's saying exactly what I told you that
18:31
this was more destructive and more
18:33
effective than was originally reported
18:35
and most important the missile
18:37
production capability was damaged the
18:39
s300 is a much older system and it's not
18:42
the only system that's there they have
18:43
the S400 as well and again I think much
18:47
of that has been repaired and we'll see
18:49
in in future operations to what extent
18:52
the Iranians have as I said compensated
18:55
and repaired the problem the Israelis
18:57
are doing the same kinds of things
18:58
things and they experienced something
19:01
very similar when the Hypersonic
19:02
missiles found their targets and
19:04
demonstrated that the Israelis could do
19:06
nothing to stop it so you know I I think
19:09
you you have to say on both sides right
19:11
now there's a realization of their
19:13
respective vulnerabilities the problem
19:15
that I have with is Israel's
19:17
determination to start this war with
19:19
Iran is that there are almost 100
19:21
million people in Iran in a nation
19:23
that's the size of Western Europe
19:26
compare that with Israel and Israel can
19:28
not sustain the kind of damage it wants
19:30
to inflict on Iran which could
19:32
ultimately end up being inflicted on
19:34
them that's the
19:36
point Colonel Switching gears to uh
19:41
Ukraine uh what's to stop the uh Russian
19:44
military from its continued march to
19:47
achieve the uh President Putin's
19:50
Geographic
19:51
goals well I think he's achieved his
19:54
Geographic goals with the exception of
19:56
having secured Odessa
19:58
karov is in Ruins it's his for the the
20:02
taking but he originally looked at the
20:05
areas that were historically Russian
20:06
where the Russian population lived
20:09
remember Odessa was the site to where
20:11
Russians were herded into burning
20:13
buildings and and murdered and this had
20:16
a had an enormous impact in Moscow as
20:19
you can well imagine this was one of the
20:21
rationals for subsequent Russian
20:24
Intervention which was to protect the
20:26
Russian population inside eastern
20:27
Ukraine I think he's largely
20:29
accomplished that goal with the
20:31
exception that I pointed
20:32
out right now the conditions on the
20:35
battlefield in Ukraine are truly
20:37
horrific they're losing thousands and
20:41
thousands of people needlessly and
20:43
pointlessly th this is not an army as
20:46
you would think of it anymore these are
20:49
formations and units streaming West
20:52
trying to escape the destruction that is
20:54
following them the Russians are moving
20:57
very deliberately and very care
20:58
carefully they're not interested in
21:00
taking any unnecessary casualties and as
21:02
you as we talked the last time they've
21:05
made good use of these uh Glide bombs
21:09
because the is the ukrainians have no
21:11
air defense at all that means that the
21:13
aircraft can fly up in relatively close
21:16
proximity to the Target launch the the
21:18
Glide bombs and they launched as many as
21:20
1100 of these in a week and the damage
21:24
is is it's something from which the
21:26
ground force cannot recover so I think
21:29
it's over in Ukraine I think everybody
21:31
in Europe knows it U I'm when I say
21:34
everybody I'm talking about the elites
21:36
that have been on the wrong side of this
21:37
question from the beginning the
21:39
ukrainians are dying uh we gave them
21:43
some life support you know sending four
21:45
or500 million dollar over to Ukraine
21:47
right now that satisfies the appetite
21:50
for cash with the various people that
21:52
are running things and the government
21:54
and the bureaucracy and the leadership
21:56
of the military but it's like giving
21:58
heart patient that's on the on his last
22:01
legs a haircut in a shave it's not going
22:03
to change a damn thing and at least we
22:06
haven't seen any more stupid long range
22:09
strikes into Russia which only
22:11
guarantees more Ukrainian losses so I
22:14
think everybody knows it has to stop the
22:17
question is will we do what we have to
22:20
do and what we have to do is simply say
22:22
that's it we're suspending all military
22:25
aid and we're getting all of our
22:27
citizens in uniform form and out of
22:29
uniform out of Ukraine that's what has
22:32
to happen if that happens the whole
22:34
picture changes and this war can come to
22:37
a very rapid close president zalinski
22:40
said after meeting with
22:43
uh Donald Trump before he was reelected
22:46
last night met with him about uh three
22:49
weeks ago at Trump Tower in New York
22:52
City that he was very happy with the
22:55
meeting he's got to be deluding himself
22:58
if he thinks that President Trump from
23:01
and after January 20th of 2025 will
23:05
continue uh the level of Military
23:07
Support into this feudal cause well
23:10
judge I wouldn't have expected him to
23:12
say anything else he's been lying
23:14
through his teeth for months and months
23:16
and months about everything and it's
23:18
impossible for him to do anything other
23:20
than put a smiley face on the dead rat
23:23
which is essentially his regime right
23:26
he's going to keep it up as long as he
23:28
can when the cash runs out so will he
23:30
and all of his friends that's coming
23:33
it's inevitable we saw it in Afghanistan
23:36
we saw the same sort of thing everywhere
23:37
we've ever been when the regime that we
23:40
propped up fell
23:41
apart that was the end and that's where
23:44
we're headed in Ukraine can
23:48
Ukraine uh
23:50
survive the onslaught by the Russians
23:54
after January 20th of next
23:57
year well depends on where we are I
24:00
think that by then the handwriting
24:02
proverbial handwriting will be on the
24:04
wall the regime in KF has to go away the
24:08
the Russians aren't going to waste any
24:09
time negotiating with them and
24:11
regardless of what president Trump
24:13
says uh Putin is the sort of person
24:16
who's going to want to see action and
24:18
the actions that I just described stop
24:21
all the aid end it and pull out
24:24
everybody who's an American citizen in
24:26
or out of uniform CIA military what
24:28
whatever it is if he sees that happen
24:31
then all sorts of things are possible
24:33
and it will make sense for him and his
24:36
government to talk to president Trump
24:38
but to be frank with you right now
24:40
there's no reason why the Russians
24:41
should believe anything we say about
24:44
anything well that's that's where we are
24:47
the other thing is that if we want to
24:48
get to some sort of closure in the
24:50
Middle East we've got to have a sa
24:52
satisfactory closure in Ukraine first
24:55
otherwise our position in the Middle
24:57
East is equally tenable as we're going
24:59
to discover once the missiles begin to
25:02
fly again so this presumes a Secretary
25:05
of State who will speak with his Russian
25:09
counterpart foreign minister lavro and
25:12
who with respect to president prime
25:14
minister Netanyahu will not act as if
25:17
he's netanyahu's lawyer the anti- Tony
25:21
blinkin agreed yes I think I'm looking
25:25
at the anti- Tony blinkin
25:30
well I wouldn't hold my breath on that
25:31
one judge but the the bottom line is no
25:34
you're correct and that's why this whole
25:36
business of as you've said and Ron Paul
25:39
ran Paul and others Personnel is policy
25:42
we'll have to wait and see who is
25:44
announced as occupying what position and
25:47
of course if the president says it
25:49
doesn't matter because I make all of the
25:52
decisions then we're in a lot of trouble
25:54
because that means that he hasn't
25:56
learned from the first term the first 4
25:58
years he's presiding over the largest
26:01
corporate structure in the world and
26:04
this thing is extremely unresponsive as
26:06
you and I know so he's got to do two
26:09
things simultaneously he's got to deal
26:11
with what we've been discussing and that
26:13
corporate monster the Leviathan has to
26:16
be cut down to size and he's got
26:19
executive office executive order power
26:22
he's got a number of authorities as
26:24
president that allow him to do many many
26:25
things with the executive branch he's
26:27
going to have to act very decisively I I
26:30
hope he has a stack of executive orders
26:33
ready to go because that's what happened
26:35
to us with Biden you can say what you
26:37
will about the Biden Administration but
26:40
they came in with executive orders
26:42
designed to utterly destroy their
26:45
opposition which is us and to
26:48
permanently alter the character and
26:50
composition of the American people they
26:52
came in ready to fire you know a
26:55
broadside and they did that's what
26:58
president Trump needs to do
27:00
now colel McGregor thank you very much
27:03

27:07
