12 Salisbury Univ. students charged with hate crimes for allegedly beating man

Twelve students from Salisbury University in Maryland face hate crime charges after allegedly luring a man to an off-campus apartment, assaulting him, and using slurs targeting his sexual orientation.

The students, aged 18 to 21, are charged with first-degree assault, false imprisonment, and other related charges.

Police say the assault, captured on video, involved the victim being forced into a chair, beaten, and verbally abused.

The victim sustained bruises and a broken rib.

Some charged students are linked to a fraternity, which, along with the individuals, has been suspended by the university, NBC News has reported.
