Michigan GOP Chairman Pete Hoekstra explains why the Biden administration and Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s electric vehicle plan was a major voter issue in the state. “[Autoworkers] knew that this threat was really a threat to their jobs. They responded very, very strongly,” he says. “And it showed that Donald Trump and his team were listening to the workers, and it showed that Governor Whitmer and others were playing footsie with China and that they didn’t care about Michigan manufacturing or Michigan manufacturing jobs.”
