USA NOW! Tornado Outbreak in Oklahoma & Arkansas: Fall Storms Bring Unexpected Chaos
A series of powerful storms struck the state of Oklahoma in the United States. On the night of Sunday, November 3, the National Weather Service recorded at least five tornadoes hitting central and southern parts of the state, including the cities of Oklahoma City and Newcastle.
Nighttime tornadoes are particularly dangerous because they are harder to detect, and people often don't have enough time to prepare. Studies show that such events are more than twice as dangerous and deadly as those that occur during the day.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities this time. According to official reports, 11 people were hospitalized with injuries. Rescuers pulled two people from an overturned mobile home and assisted several others whose cars were flooded due to heavy rain.
The storms caused significant damage to power lines, leaving more than 20,000 people without electricity. In some areas, telephone poles, trees, traffic lights were toppled, and gas pipelines were damaged. Authorities reported that 39 buildings were destroyed, and nearly 100 more require repairs. Newcastle's elementary school suffered extensive damage, with the roof torn off the main building and gymnasium.
The governor of Oklahoma declared a state of emergency in six counties.
Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are typically associated with spring and summer, but their occurrence this fall came as a surprise to experts. Meteorologist Rick Smith of the National Weather Service highlighted the unusual nature of these tornadoes, noting that such powerful storms after midnight, especially in November, are extremely rare.
On November 4, a strong storm system also hit northwest Arkansas, causing tornadoes and flooding roads. Three tornadoes were reported in the region, one of which affected the counties of Adair and Benton. They caused damage to homes and streets.
Abnormal and record-breaking catastrophes are becoming our new reality, often surpassing the most pessimistic forecasts of experts. However, a group of independent scientists had warned of such developments in the "Global Crisis" forums. Familiarizing yourself with this information will not only inform you about future developments but also help you take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones.
