Blackfishing Long Island Sound Election Day 2024

11/5/2024 Tuesday, Election Day. I fished with Vietnam Veteran Joe St Pierre today on Long Island Sound. It was a beautiful day on the water. We had the whole area to ourselves, which was surprising. I thought for sure there would be other boats in the area. The weather report called for strong west northwest winds for most of the day, but they only showed up an hour before we pulled the anchor to head home. Lots of action. We managed 4 quality Blackfish and 5 Seabass. As an added bonus the US Coast Guard Bouy Tender Ida Lewis WLM-551 passed by during our outing. I served aboard two of them during my USCG enlistment, the USCGC Clover WLB-292 and the USCGC Woodrush WLB-407, both homeported out of Sitka, Alaska. We were back at our slip a little past sundown.
