Following the American Revolution, the young nation was still going through some growing pains, and political spats sometimes turned violent. While the practice of dueling was increasing seen as a barbaric and antiquated form of dispute resolution, the laws in New Jersey were somewhat lax. Thus, in the early morning hours of July 11th, 1804, Aaron Burr rode across the river to Weehawken, and on the Palisades Cliffs… made history. And Alexander Hamilton became history.
