Two losses on the trot, we have to ask if the former two time champion is back. Brandon Moreno may have gotten back in the win column but he also fended off a third ranked contender. Brandon Moreno isn’t getting a title shot off of his win over Amir Albazi at UFC Edmonton, but he fights off another contender and reminds critics that he’s still a very good fighter.

Amir Albazi just stood in front of Brandon Moreno all night. He got beat from the first bell. He could not employ his approach to fighting and paid the price. Looking to wrestle, Amir Albazi struggled to get into range to grapple with Brandon Moreno. At the end of the day, he lost to Brandon Moreno and has a questionable decision against Kai Kara-France. Was he ever a top ten fighter?

Rose Namajunas got beat bad by Erin Blanchfield. She didn’t take an unimaginable amount of damage. But after winning two rounds in a five round fight, Rose Namajunas had an ill advised takedown attempt and just gave up position to Erin Blanchfield. Her confidence was then shot. Erin Blanchfield, down two rounds, fought her way back. Erin Blanchfield isn’t a world beater, either, which makes this loss even worse for Rose Namajunas.

Youssef Zalal continues his tear through his return to the UFC. Three fights in 2024 have seen him notch three submission victories. Not bad for a Moroccan kickboxer. I love Youssef Zalal and will talk about him any chance I get. And that chance is every time he fights.
