DC Locks Down: Federal Buildings and Shops Fortified Ahead of Election Day!

In Washington, DC, shop owners are taking precautions by boarding up their businesses with wood in anticipation of possible unrest surrounding the 2024 election results on Tuesday. The federal government is also implementing security measures to protect government buildings.

Numerous businesses near the White House in downtown DC have covered windows and doors with plywood, seemingly in preparation for potential disturbances following the election.

Some online have interpreted these security measures as an acknowledgment of the risk of violence if results are unfavorable to certain groups. Fencing has been set up around key locations, including the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory, and Howard University, where her election watch event is planned.

Security will also be heightened around the Palm Beach Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump’s election night gathering will take place.

DC police are expected to be fully mobilized, with additional support from law enforcement from neighboring states.
