e continue our trek through the cinematic adaptations of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula! This is the 1977 BBC version of the vampire count. Louis Jourdan stars as Dracula! Jourdan has a long list of credits. He fought James Bond in Octopussy and also starred in Wes Craven's 1982 epic Swamp Thing! Judi Bowker stars as Mina. You may remember her as Andromeda in Ray Harryhausen's Clash of the Titans! Frank Finlay stars as Professor Abraham Van Helsing. This version of Van Helsing may be the closest to Stoker's novel. Fans of the book may find that this is one of the only versions to feature Mr. Swales! George Malpas stars as Mr. Swales. Is this closer than Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee's Dracula? Is it closer than Francis Ford Coppola's version of Dracula? It gets a lot right. Philip Saville directs this one for Television. This is fine telling of Dracula that fans of Gothic Horror can sink their teeth into!
