The first part of the trip is from Barcelona up to the Basque Country. Lleida has an amazing fortress and historic church dating back to the 1200’s. From there it’s up to the cultural heart of the Basque Country with a stop in Guernica and Durango.

Spain is a storied country of stone castles, snowcapped mountains, vast monuments, and sophisticated cities, all of which have made it a favored travel destination. The country is geographically and culturally diverse.

Spain’s countryside is quaint, speckled with castles, aqueducts, and ancient ruins, but its cities are modern.

The many and varied cultures that have gone into the making of Spain, the Castilians, Catalonians, Lusitanians, Galicians, Basques, Romans, Arabs, among other peoples, are renowned for their varied cuisines, customs, and prolific contributions to the countries heritage.

The country’s Roman conquerors left their language, roads, and monuments. The Moors, who ruled over portions of Spain for nearly 800 years, left a legacy of fine architecture.

Spain has over 40 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, mountains, beaches and so much more. It was nice to get out and explore this beautiful country try. Doing a complete loop of the country, right at 4,000 kilometers, was a trip of a lifetime.
