Kamala Harris supporters across the country have been left shaken after receiving unexpected letters and postcards implying that they would soon be “volunteering” to host migrant families in their homes.

Though many Democrats advocate for open borders and humanitarian immigration policies, the enthusiasm appears to wane when such issues are perceived as arriving directly on their doorsteps.

One Harris supporter in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, was taken aback upon receiving a postcard seemingly from Harris’s campaign. Upon flipping it over, she found a message stating that a Nicaraguan migrant family would be moving into her home, complete with a scheduled date and a list of food and transportation requirements. The postcard read:
“Thank you for supporting Kamala! We appreciate your yard sign, but now we need your continued help. We will be moving a family of two from Nicaragua into your home on 10/30/2024. They will need food, toiletries, and transportation. Thank you.”

Similarly, in Fresno County, California, households with “Harris-Walz” yard signs reportedly received letters notifying them that their homes had been designated as “sanctuary residences” for undocumented migrants, according to News Nation.

The letters, written in English, Spanish, and Arabic, warned recipients that keeping their yard signs up would mean their homes would be listed as “sanctuary residences” for migrants. Carole Laval, a Democratic voter, shared her dismay, stating, “Someone drove around our neighborhood, noted the addresses with Harris signs, and sent these letters.” She added, “Receiving something like this feels un-American. We’re simply exercising our free speech rights.”

Another recipient, Michele Richtel, a registered Democrat, expressed her anger but stated it wouldn’t deter her, saying, “I came down here to buy more signs.”
