A Special Treat

This graphite pencil drawing ‘The Venus of the Hague – 07-06-20 (Sold)’ is something different I was bound to create. You see, today’s my birthday and I thought I’d offer you a special treat. Last variation was abstracted to the point I did not want to go any futher, I decided to do this realistically. It reminds me to Malevic who couldn’t abstract any further beyond his black and white squares. Surely I’m not that far in the abstractional process as he was and I certainly never will. The only way is up again and go bonckers this time. Didn’t Dali once said something similar? That the only way is to return to realism eventually?

All the Right Persons

And so it happened again. All of a sudden I saw the scenery of ‘Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe’ in front of me and in stead of the bathing woman I saw Batseba (Hendrickje Stoffels by Rembrandt. One thing lead to another: ‘La Belle Ferronière’ by Da Vinci and ‘Malle Babbe’ by Frans Hals. Hence this drawing. Once they arrived at the scene their presence seemed so logical to me. The logic is in my preference for these paintings made by the finest of artists one could think of.

Change of Composition.

The Manet scene is reversed so the pointing man is on the left side. The other way round disturbed the composition too much. He otherwise would have not been visible. People who know me recognize the pointing man. It is in de hands of an American collector these days.
