How to make DECORATIVE LANTERNS USING SCRAP WOOD! Inspired from PINTEREST! Follow along as I show you how I built two different styles of lanterns with a rope handle. This decoration is perfect for electric candles, faux greenery or you could use it year round.

TOOLS USED:

Table saw, miter saw, brad nailer, pin nailer, palm sander, hot glue gun

SUPPLIES USED:

Krylon Banner Red spray paint, Krylon Clear Lacquer, 18 gauge brad nails, 23 gauge pin nails, wood glue, hot glue, rope.

CUTLIST

Wood used is 3/4" pine and poplar

Larger lantern:

Side supports: 3/4 x 3/4" piece cut at 16" in length with a 45 degree cut in each to form a furniture "foot." (Optional)
Base: 6 x 6" square with notches cut in each corner
Top: 4 x 4" square, Two 4 x 1 3/4" pieces to form a channel for the rope, attached to a 6 x 6" piece
Rope: 16"

Smaller lantern:

Side supports: 3/4 x 3/4" piece cut at 12" in length
Base: 6 x 6" square with four 3/4 x 4 1/4" - 4 1/2" long base supports (Adjust as necessary for a perfect fit or to recess slightly)
Top: 4 x 4" square, Two 4 x 1 3/4" pieces to form a channel for the rope, attached to a 6 x 6" piece
Rope: 16"
