37. Healing the Boy with Seizures (9:14 – 29)

Extending the lessons of the Transfiguration, Mark now tells the story of the boy suffering from demonic seizures. The story is really about the faith of the boy's father, however, as Jesus leads the man, who is desperate for the welfare of his son, to exclaim, "I believe...help my unbelief!" The story supplements the themes of suffering and glory, with the related ideas of faith and power. Faith must be exercised during times of suffering, in order to unleash the power of God that results in glory.
