This Week’s Lesson

We are in Lesson-10 in the series “Rebuilding on the Solid Rock” from the book of Ezra.

This is Volume I of our series: “After the Exile” a study of Ezra-Nehemiah-Esther.

The lesson is titled “The Good Hand of Our God – Part II” and our focus passage is Ezra 8.

Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.

In our previous episode, we began our study of Ezra 7-8, The Good Hand of Our God.

Ezra is leading a 2nd wave of Exiles back to Jerusalem. We pick-up the story from Ezra 6 and it’s about 60 years after the Temple rebuilding project was completed (515 B.C.).

It’s in the 7th year of King Artaxerxes (464-423 B.C.) which would be 458 B.C.

We learned that Ezra had firmly resolved (i.e., set his heart) to study the Law of Yahweh, to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.

Apparently, he made the request to the king for this trip and because the good hand of His God was upon him, the requests were granted.

Ezra was committed to Yahweh and His Torah. He was committed to bless the people of Israel.

And I believe that because of that commitment, the LORD was committed to Him and blessed this entire enterprise.

It’s the power and favor of God who is causing this to succeed.

In today’s lesson we will conclude our study of Ezra 7-8 as Ezra finishes the truth to Jerusalem.

Let’s get started.
