"Art Beyond Color," where we explore the inspiring journey of Ron Monroe, The Colorblind Artist.

"My dad was in the Air Force stationed in Taiwan in 1967, which is where I was born. I spent my childhood on Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, and by six years old, I was already drawing—my first piece being The Banana Split Gang. Though art was a constant, I never took an art class in high school, instead focusing on band. Graduating in ’85, I joined the Army, and after two years in Germany, I entered The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Then, in a painting class, my teacher helped me realize…I was colorblind.

That moment crushed my dream of becoming a graphic artist. But life had other plans. After another six years in the Army and a journey that led me to my wife Amy, four children, and a move to North Mississippi, I rediscovered my love for art. Watching The Joy of Painting inspired me to try acrylics, and today, I’m exploring oil paints, even documenting my art on Rumble.

Join us as we dive into Ron’s journey of resilience and discovery, redefining what it means to be an artist—colorblind or not.
