Mickey 17 the movie, directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Robert Pattinson, is a dark sci-fi thriller based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The story takes place on an icy, distant planet where Mickey, an "expendable" worker, is part of a colonization mission. His role is highly risky, as his employers expect him to undertake dangerous tasks, knowing he can be replaced by a clone each time he dies.

However, the plot thickens when Mickey survives one of these missions unexpectedly, and upon his return, he finds a new clone of himself already created.
