How many kinds of lives did Adam have? Adam was not just a man with one simple life - he had three distinct lives that made him who he was. These lives were intertwined and essential to his existence. First and foremost, there was his physical life. Symbolizing his body. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. This breath, or life principle, animated his body and gave it vitality. This is the same life that sustains all living creatures, and it is sometimes referred to as animal life.
