Today, we’re diving into the profound mystery of living through Christ what it means to have Him as our intercessor, our guide, and our ultimate source of grace in everything we do. As St. Ambrose once said, 'Christ Himself is our mouth through which we speak to the Father, our eye through which we see the Father, our right hand through which we offer to the Father.' What does it mean that we only reach the Father through Christ? And what would our lives look like if we truly allowed Him to be that source and center of everything?

In today’s episode, we’re going to unpack this idea, look at how it shapes our relationships with others, and discover how this deep union with Christ transforms our ability to forgive, to empathize, and to live in peace with others. Let’s start by considering this theme in light of Scripture."
Let’s begin with a passage from Romans: 'Bless those who persecute [you], bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.' (Romans 12:14-18)
This call from St. Paul reveals the essence of how we are meant to relate to each other as Christians. It’s a way of life that asks for humility, kindness, and an open heart. We’re invited to a radical sense of unity and charity, loving others even when it’s difficult, and striving for peace in all our interactions.

This type of love and empathy loving our enemies and rejoicing with others isn’t something we can accomplish on our own. It requires grace, a gift that flows only through Christ."
St. Ambrose’s words remind us that Christ is more than a distant model of virtue. He’s the very means by which we connect to God. As Ambrose says, 'Without His intercession neither we nor all the saints have anything with God.' Think about that. Even the greatest saints, the holiest men and women who ever lived, needed Christ to reach the Father. And so do we.
When we recognize Christ as our intercessor, we understand that every prayer, every hope, every word that we bring to the Father goes through Him. This changes everything about how we approach God and others. It’s Christ’s love and mercy that flow through us when we’re kind to others, when we forgive, and when we seek to make peace. Our union with Him empowers us to fulfill the commandment to love others, even those who might be difficult to love.
Living this way is often counter to our natural inclinations. It can feel easier to harbor resentment or to judge. But Romans calls us higher to bless rather than curse, to live humbly, to celebrate others’ joys, and to share in their sorrows. When we follow these teachings, we are letting Christ work through us, turning our human frailty into channels of divine grace.
Imagine a world where, instead of retaliation or pride, we turned to humility and compassion. This is what it means to live 'in Christ.' When someone insults us, we offer them kindness. When we encounter someone grieving, we don’t just offer quick words we sit with them, sharing their pain. This isn’t weakness. It’s true strength, a power that comes only from union with Christ."
To achieve this, we must continually turn to Christ, asking Him to lead us in every moment. In prayer, we ask Him to be the lens through which we see others, the words that we speak, the actions we take. In doing so, we let Him guide us and shape our responses. Our hearts become more attuned to His love and gentleness.
St. Ambrose’s reminder that Christ is our 'right hand through which we offer to the Father' suggests that everything we do every good action and every prayer must be united with Christ. If we rely on Him and truly seek His strength, then even our smallest acts become offerings of love to God."
Conclusion Prayer:
Let’s end today with a prayer asking Christ to guide us in this path of humility, love, and peace.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord Jesus, You are our intercessor, our strength, and our guide. You are the way through which we come to know the Father. Help us to live each day in deep union with You, offering every thought, word, and action as a gift to God. Teach us to forgive, to bless, and to live at peace with others.
When we are tempted to act out of pride or resentment, remind us of Your humility and mercy. Fill us with Your love so that we may reach out to others with open hearts and gentle spirits.
Grant us the grace to see others through Your eyes, to speak with Your words, and to act with Your kindness. May we, like You, be instruments of peace in the world, spreading Your light in all that we do. We ask this through Your most holy name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
