Ardmore police have released a portion of the body cam footage showing the moment an officer opened fire on a suspect last Thursday.

The incident happened at 2:19 p.m. in the parking lot of a convenience store at the corner of Veteran's Boulevard and Rockford Road.

The 33-second video shows an unnamed officer approaching the passenger side of a black pickup truck. The window rolls down.

"Would you step out for me?" the officer asks.

"I've got a gun, and I'll use it," the man in the truck replies.

"He says he's got a gun!" the officer shouts as he backs away from the window, where an arm is briefly seen in the video holding what appears to be a metallic object.

Multiple gunshots are heard in the police video just two seconds after the suspect — later identified as 41-year-old Joshua Benjamin Wayne Estrada — issued the verbal threat.

The officer involved was not injured. Estrada was taken to the hospital and released later that day.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested Estrada for Terroristic Threats, Possession of CDS and a misdemeanor arrest warrant.
