DAC: Behind the Curtain:- COINTELPRO, GOP Extremism, and the Police Shooting in St. Paul

Welcome back to Da Urban Conservative! I’m Chaz Neal, and today, we’re diving deep into events that aren’t just “headlines” but reflect deeper shifts and conflicts in American society. Let’s dissect three crucial topics: a man in critical condition after a St. Paul police encounter, GOP figures openly displaying extremist views, and the COINTELPRO tactics that some say are still alive, targeting Black figures in media and entertainment.
Stay tuned; this isn’t just news—it’s a confrontation with the forces shaping our lives.
St. Paul Incident]
Our first story takes us to St. Paul, where a man is now in critical condition following a police shooting. As we look for more details, one thing’s clear—this is part of a larger pattern. The system continues to show us it’s ready to pull the trigger in a heartbeat on Black and Brown communities, sending a chilling message about where priorities really lie.
The details, as always, remain obscured. Information trickles out in bits and pieces. Some will justify this as “just policing,” but is it really? When you look at the landscape across the country—Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Daunte Wright—this isn’t “just policing.” This is the policing of Black existence. Are we, as a society, so desensitized that we see incidents like this and move on? It’s time for us to demand not just answers but change.
GOP and White Nationalist Rhetoric
Next, we shift to the words from GOP commentator Ryan Gidursky. He publicly accused Mehdi Hasan of being a “Hamas terrorist” and went so far as to “hope his beeper doesn’t go off” on CNN. Let’s break down what that means. This is a high-profile figure who’s essentially stoking a fire against an American journalist for having a different view.
We’re not talking about casual disagreements here; this is rhetoric that edges into territory we’ve seen before in history—a tactic to isolate, alienate, and target dissenting voices. And the GOP has taken on a distinctly white nationalist edge, as we’re seeing more frequently. This isn’t just a slip or an outlier; it’s a pattern. They are selling a narrative to their base: “America for us, not for you.” That’s the subtext we have to see through and address. When a party aligns itself so publicly with white nationalism, it’s not just words—it’s a threat to democracy as we know it.
COINTELPRO and Character Assassination
Finally, let’s talk about COINTELPRO—the program created to surveil, infiltrate, and neutralize organizations deemed “subversive.” Tariq Nasheed recently pointed out that high-profile arrests, like those of figures such as Lil Durk and potentially even Diddy, often come with a wave of “leaks” to bloggers, YouTubers, and media figures. It’s a way to turn the public against them before they’ve had a day in court, a tactic COINTELPRO perfected.
You might wonder, “COINTELPRO was decades ago. Isn’t it dead?” The truth is, the techniques are alive and well. For the power structure, it’s easier to leak and let social media convict someone than to let the justice system play out. It’s psychological warfare, a battle for perception, and guess what? It works.
How do we recognize when these tactics are used? Look at the patterns. The arrest happens, then suddenly “information” comes out to bloggers who post it as if it’s fact. It muddies the waters, destroys reputations, and creates a cloud of mistrust and division. And it’s our communities, our leaders, and our artists who bear the brunt of these tactics.
So, where does that leave us? It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, to feel like we’re watching a train wreck we can’t stop. But we’re not helpless. We can stay informed, challenge these narratives, and refuse to let mainstream media or any one party dictate how we think or see ourselves.
The real message of today’s episode? Understand what you’re seeing, be critical, and know when you’re being played. Whether it’s the police narrative, the rise of extremism, or a new COINTELPRO, these are signs of a society in need of change. We have the power to drive that change if we stay aware and united.
Until next time, stay sharp, stay strong, and stay aware. This is Da Urban Conservative, where we cut through the noise and bring the truth to you.
