Pro-Putin party wins contested election as Georgia drifts further from US, Europe

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has called for protests against the recent parliamentary election results, which she claims were rigged with Russian assistance.

The ruling party, Georgian Dream, won approximately 54% of the vote, a result seen as a setback for Georgia’s aspirations to join the European Union and a victory for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed concerns over election irregularities and the lack of fairness, urging a full investigation, Fox News has reported.
